It looks very recent, the Beetham Tower was completed earlier this year, but the Hilton sign has been up less than a month or so.
IIRC The Beatham Tower Hilton only opened its doors to the public during the last week - can't wait to visit it (office Christmas Party) and go to the sky bar and look down on the ground through the one piece of glass flooring!!!!!
THe building itself has been in a finished state (the external work) for a few months now and I am surprised that there have been no shots of it on the programme - has it been airbrushed out or something - although I do seem to recal a peice in the Manchester Evening News saying that Granada/ITV has no intention of airbrushing out the building as it is now an integral part of the Manchester skyline.

I can't believe that shot of the Beetham Tower and The Street - amazing! How recent is that picture - because it looks like the Rovers exterior has had a lick of paint... the "Newton & Ridley" wording has been missing for years since it became a freehouse - on the opening titles you can still see the pegs that held on the lettering.

After seeing Bill Webster return last night, I was trying to recall the circumstances regarding his departure last time, didn't he go off with Maureen Holdsworth ?
Is he returning to the Street now or is it just a guest appearance ?

Off in the back of a taxi! Shortly after Maureen (Sherie Hewson who is returning soon) married Fred, she decided that actually Bill was the man for her-- and they cleared off to Germany together! Fred never had much luck with women did he? I blame that Audrey Roberts personally
Not sure if Bill is returning full-time, but Maureen is to return for longer. Sherie Hewson's is going to be on Loose Women either today or tomorrow, to fill us all in on the goss... watch this space!

Top left hand corner, next to the road bridge and next to the river (wharehouse style buildings) - also directly next to that is the Victoria and Albert hotel which used to be owned by Granada - in the days when they had the studios tour!!!!
Its got the "tion" across it from the word webbaviatiion - on the photograph
The otherside of the river is City of Salford
Thanks for that info Amos.
Anybody know what happened to the mock up street at the 'world of coronation street' in Blackpool. They could use that as a tourist attrection.
I don't know who said it but when the tour closed some daft squib said that everybody who wanted to go on the tour has done so, so the future generations of street fans born after 1999 don't want to visit the set then.
I did the tour 4 times, in 1991 (twice), 1993 (when they were filming) and 1996. Also seen it twice from the museum in 2002 and 2005 (saw them filming outside the chippy prior to clare running over Chesney's dog

There was a guy who used to work in the Rovers called Fred Gee. Whatever happened to him?

It was mentioned in 1999 when Fred's ex wife Eunice Gee made an appearance, that Fred had died. The actor Fred Feast also died a few years back.
Good episodes tonight. Always nice when they go on location. So thats the last we will see of Craig then. Sally Whittaker put in an excellent performance - I maintain my opinion she is a fine actress.
Also how yummy did Liam look tonight - Maria is such a little slut though, (not that im green with envy or anything
lol )
