more unrealistic scene switches. Danny gives Frankie Flowers, and goes out in car, then apears shortly in the pub at closing time.

Unless I'm mistaken there are six episodes this week. Why?

I don't consider Fred's funeral to be a good enough excuse.

Well it is probabaly because of Fred's funeral. However ITV dont need an excuse to add extra episodes! Wink

Too true... *sigh* when will they learn: less is more!

Do we think its SUPPOSED to be 6 episodes (as in deliberately filmed and written that way) or ITV just adding another one to make it seem special.

Sunday Mirror article :

CORONATION Street could be moved cobble-by-cobble from its Manchester home.

ITV bosses are considering uprooting the historic set as part of plans to relocate its famous Granada studios to nearby Salford.

Since Corrie started in 1960 the area around the 21-acre site has gone from rundown to trendy - so selling the land would bring in huge profits for ITV.

But it would also mean moving more than 49,000 bricks, 6,500 slates - and the famous Coronation Street cobbles - to make sure viewers didn't notice the difference.

A Corrie source said: "There are more than 800 people working in and around the Granada studios and the buildings they are housed in are now getting on for half a century old and are in need of a revamp."

One option is lease a site on a 200-acre Northern broadcasting centre being planned there by BBC.

Granada bosses are already in talks with Manchester Council - which is keen to keep the studios in the area as they are money-spinning draw to tourists.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "Our discussions with both Manchester and Salford city councils are ongoing."

they could use the fake set from the world of coronation street in Blackpool, if it still exists

Well its not the first time Corrie has changed the location of its set. Between the late 60s and 1982 the set was the other side of the huge warehouse building (which is behind the medical centre on the current set) and in the early 60s they didnt even have an outside set.

As long as its stays in Manchester and doesnt move to London or Leeds because ITV want to close Granada Manchester studios then thats ok!

Its impossable to move the set without noticing a differance.

As the actual Street occupies a relatively small part of the site (I think, from memory), there could be all sorts of development potential to keep the set as part of some sort of museum or leisure development perhaps? Moving would allow them to correct the many, many anomalies with the indoor/outdoor sets – maybe even have a Brookside style of filming in the actual buildings even?

Maybe the Rovers will then get some new wallpaper too...

Well technically Weatherfield is supposed to be part of Salford, so I guess it's a bit more closer to Salford rather than Manchester. Anyway as I've said before anyone who has walked around the Quay Street area pretty recently cannot help but notice all the the new buildings surrounding Granada popping up out of nowhere, the land has real value to it. As well as ITV's excuse that the Granada Studios are over half a century old...
