I don't like the way fred is leaving, cant he just marry bev and emigrate to the Isle of wight to live in marital bliss for ever?

why does he have to go and join the choir invisible?

Kind of difficult to know what and what not to talk about in this thread, the information you refer to was spoiler tagged, but then people talk about it openly and in the clear.

So anyway, back to your point, they can't all leave in the back of a taxi can then they ? Then we'd be saying how unrealistic it is. People do die in real life and a lot younger and a lot fitter than Fred Elliot so that should be reflected in soap land. Maybe Jon Savident requested it as well, I think he's been quite critical about the workload.

Some characters really run their course, Fred was amusing initially but I think it's probably time he went. There is only so much angst to be taken about finding a suitable bride, and I've never liked the situation with dual business ownership (although we now have that with Steve McDonald).

So, anyway just was peoples favourite Fred Elliot storyline ? The Orchid debacle ? Laughing

Because he had the nerve to criticise the producers I think!

Well spoilers have always been posted in this thread and its only been recently people have posted spoiler tags. I read spoilers to a certain extent in tv mags and newspapers, however I dont read them in too great depth before I watch the programme as it would spoil it too much.

Maybe I should put spoiler in the thread title to warn people?

As for thread I think the Orchid storyline was one good storyline he has had. I agree that its time the character left though, although there are others that have been there a lot longer.

sorry, I thought I'd put the bit about the choir invisible in spoiler quotes

obviously I didn't Embarassed

soap script writers can be quite apt at assassinating characters when the actors make undue comments. Ernie Bishop was bumped off after the actor complained about the pay scale

I think Fred will be missed alot more than some of the recent high profile departures like Mike Baldwin for example.

They had the clones for Mike waiting in the wings - but I don't think you could ever clone a character like Fred.

The only recent character with any similarity is Diggory - and we all know how well he worked!

Oh I don't know! Give Ashley a few decades to put a few stone on and let his voice deepen.

And Peter Adamson who played Len Fairclough was sacked in 1983 for selling his story to the press or something. They didnt even let him come back to film an exit storyline.

Put The Telly On
I noticed Bid tv were selling the Coronation Street 1970s DVD set earlier. They showed classic clips of Renee Roberts in the shop and Gail and Alf. The presenter knew nothing about Corrie however.

Whatever happened to Bella? She seem to dissapear after Maxine's departure. Unless Richard killed the cat as well Shocked

Ashley's hot-headed stubborness gets on my nerves sometimes-- he just won't be told. When he gets angrier, he sounds more like Orville Wink Bless
