Paul summed it up well tonight when he said Adam had a face you wanted to slap!
Lol, indeed. The scriptwriters are learning
Fantastic line! It's rather like the way that the scriptwriters built in lines about how Warren couldn't speak properly! . I wonder what that "actor" is doing now?
I like what I see so far with this new lot (Paul, Liam and Michelle), I just hope they don't make Paul too gangster-ish.

I agree. Paul seems ok at the moment.
Im surprised no-one has commented on the new cadbury's sponsorship adverts - I think they are an improvement on the previous ones.

I'd not really noticed the sponsorship things (so that HAS to be good) until tonight where i thought the subject was a bit inapropriate for the 9/11 anniversary - some guy luying trapped under a fake metal beam seemed a bit of a bad choice maybe, maybe not.

I am sick with all the references to 9/11. I agree it was an atrocity, and it has to be remembered - How about some sort of international rmembrance garden or something of the ilk?
But they way everyone has been talking about it and the way its been portrayed on TV both last night and the whole of today is just wrong - would the poor unfortunate people want the world to remember that event as it has been portrayed today - I somehow doubt it and would like to see people get on with their lives.
Could you imagine if we did the same for every terrorist attack that happened in the UK, done by the US funded IRA (p.s. that is fact!) or the Spanish commemorating every ETA attack done in Spain etc... (and they all included multi-nationals!!!!)
Anyway back to Corrie - not a bad double bill - Claire continual downward spiral into depression shows that the actress/character is slightly more than 2D. The humour coming from Cilla everything that isn't screwed down. Corrie getting back to its best!
It's an obvious storyline, but it have been so much better if the Connor's had bought the Rovers so Michelle became Liz's boss!
The factory storylines are always pretty boring IMO!
Anyhow, the soap lawyers been working overtime this weekend - even on a Sunday for Adam! It really is ridiculous how they complete everything overnight!

Do what I've done and don't watch it. You don't have to have the TV on all day watching it if you don't want to - all I watched was Corrie today,

People talking about it at work passionately, featured heavily on Bleakenders, now I'm watching it on the news (ITV) just before I swap overt o watch Life on Mars on Bravo+1. IN The local and national papers. Fed up with it all. Damn Americans milking it for what they can get - and as one perosn has said on the news they are doing it to try to keep the fear of the people going - I totally agree!
Corrie was an oasis where it wasn't mentioned and what a relief that was. Good on you scriptwriters you don't have to shown real events all the time, unlike a certain other soap!

I'm a little bit puzzled by something. Whilst I appreciate that 9/11 was an atrocious event beyond wrods-- why has everyone gone OTT with commerating 9/11
this
year? Understandably the first aniversary there was a enormous memorial; but in 2003, 2004 and 2005, it got barely a passing mention. Why the huge fuss this year?!
There have been some cynical commentators who have suggested it is to do with President Bush's disastrous poll ratings; a huge memorial service boost to opnion polls, and to 'remind' Americans there is a 'logic' behind GWB's Middle East policies. Make of that what you will
Another thing that bugs me... people seem to forget about the
other
two planes. Why are the people who died in Pentagon attack, and the plane where the hi-jackers were overcome, often side-lined?

I think the pseudo-significance is that fact that it is 5 years - a milestone of sorts?
It was interesting to note that Bush's appearance with wife at Ground Zero came complete with the v/o "President Bush in fact made it clear he didn't want his appearance to overshadow the memorial and it was a PRIVATE visit", yet a dozen camera crews were there to shoot the laying of the wreath, with all of the agencies reading that same Whitehouse statement. Private my eye.
I thought that all of the passengers (each and every one - mark you) of the downed plane were Heros. That's what I have been led to believe.
It jars with me that the death count following the invasion of Iraq has eclipsed this attrocious event in 2001, and yet we don't have any type of ceremony for the innocents lost there.
EDIT: Sorry, I thought this was the 9/11 thread - sorry for taking it further off course.
Re Corrie - that new lad who's bought awful Adam's share of the factory is nice, isn't he?

I think the "heroes" tag the passengers have been given isn't right(except the ones who overcame the terrorists on the fourth plane). They were just tragic victims who were in the wrong places at the wrong time. The real heroes were emergency services' workers who rescued people who would have otherwise perished. Many of those workers subsequently lost their lives too.
Anyway back to Coro ... is Lloyd's continuing absence ever going to be explained? I know Craig Charles has been suspended/dismissed, but the character has just dissapeared without explanation on screen :
I don't think the soaps need to refer to real disasters just because of specific aniversary dates. This year is also the 10th anniversary of the Dunblane Shootings and the 40th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster but I doubt they will get a mention. Soaps are fiction so are not necessarily effected by real events.
Back to corry, I do like the sponsor links this time, hopefully they've ditched those annoying families who just happen to live on Coronation Streets and have shares in Cadburys
