In fact, only two or three episodes in this collection appear to be the originals; all of the rest (excluding the two colour episodes in 1969) are indeed film telerecordings.

I think the versions of many 60s episodes that survive are film telerecordings made for export rather than the original quad tapes (how many of the episodes originate from VT?).

Ive got it. Nice to see all the frontcaps and end caps. Ive only got as far as 1962 so far though (ive also looked at the first colour episode - interesting to note that all scenes filmed on the outside set were b/w in that first "colour" episode)

I received the 1960s box set today - the mass of episodes here are very entertaining in my opinion, even if the length of scenes did run on for quite a bit. There are a few oddities here, though. The first episode (and most of the others in the set) start not with the original front/endcaps, but a "Granada Television International" logo, complete with the 1968 arrow motif; no doubt these are reissue copies of some sort. The final two episodes on the first disc include odd Granada front/endcaps I have never seen before, both containing a map of Britain. There are many different opening titles for the episodes, I'll try to post some caps here shortly.
Has anyone else purchased the set yet?

Not even clips from the 'colour strike' episodes of late 1970/early 1971?
eg. Val Barlow's death by faulty hairdryer.
What do you mean by "colour strike"? I've not come across this term before.

That's what I thought. I don't think I've ever seen any B&W VT footage from corrie.

They couldnt film episodes in colour for a period in 1970/1 so they reverted back to b/w. Think this was because the people responsible went on strike over their pay or something.

I am quite looking forward to having some new characters on the show -as long as they dont introduce a load of dull and boring chraracters like Nathan and Diggory that did sod all.
Kym Ryder was on GMTV the other morning talking about her character on Corrie - the new family sound good.
Btw ive noticed most of the tv guides have got Sarah and Jason as their main story this week - TV Quick have gone with Corrie for the past 4 weeks *faints*

Those of you able to listen to BBC WM by some means, keep an ear out for a repeat of 'The Other Side Of Kevin Kennedy'.
Kev recorded an interview with Ed Doolan, while he's appearing in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' in Brum as the 'Child Catcher'.
(Check this Friday coming at 8pm, if they still repeat the previous Sunday show!)
