If that Teletext story is to be believed, then maybe we'll finally see the Rovers Return getting a much needed makeover.

Any pub in real life that kept the same wallpaper and seating for twenty years would look like an absolute dive by now!
The upholstery on the seating would be almost totally worn out and full of cigarette burns, and the wallpaper would
have most likely become darkened beyond recognition, with two decades worth of nicotine staining!

......it's only telly..........

Still, a pub staying exactally the same for 20 years, it's unlikely. Also, the Queen Vic also hasn't changed since the early 90s- that's overdue as well.

Tonights episode started with something familiar, A Cadbury Sponsor advert. I take it their back then.

Anyone out there with long memories? I have vague recollections of a time (in the very early 60s) when a few episodes of Coronation Street had different theme music. It was swiftly changed back to the one we know and love because of a public outcry. Is my mind playing tricks?

From what ive seen of the 1960s and 1970s there were definately some vaiations to the current theme tune on some episodes, but ive never seen an episode with a completely different theme tune. Mind you ive seen very little episodes from the 1960s.

From what I can remember, the Street started out with a slightly different version of the theme we have today for its opening credits. As you already know, the closing credits were very long in the first few eps, and the whole theme was heard (the beginning of it was slightly cheesy to begin with, before coming into the proper closing tune). Around mid-1964, the opening theme was slightly changed to the one in use today. From the late 1960s up to around the early 1980s, a section from the long version of the theme was played for "special" episodes (such as weddings or Valentine's Days). Apart from this, I don't think there has been any change. Sorry for the long post!

It's the Sarah and Jason wedding I'm not looking forward too. Yawn. I wish that storyline was stopped when it had the chance last week when Sarah fell out with Jason.

Does anyone else think Syd Little and Eddie Large when seeing Gail and Eileen together? Laughing I mean, there's Gail who's fairly slim and looks about 4 foot tall then there's Eileen about twice her height and weight.

Yeah...moving on..

I'd agree if it wasn't for the wonderful scenes with Gail and Eileen. It's about time they had another fight in the street. Bring back that blue dressing gown!
