I've probably said this a few times in the last 300+ pages, but they really do need to bring in a new family/couple to run the Rovers.

I think that once all these characters leave they should only introduce a few new faces as replacements. Otherwise the cast will remain too big (around 60 characters is too many really). I know we are getting Kym Marsh's character back shortly and they are supposed to be introducing her 2 on screen brothers, but I hope we dont get another load of characters like Nathan, Keith and Diggory who are'nt really that interesting and add little to the show.

Yes they are, it'll be quite unusual when they actually come back

Anyway, yesterday I was outside Granada and met some of the cast! I met Tina O Brien who was also in her car driving out of the studios, she had her dog in the car with her, had a brief chat with her too (no autograph as she was in a rush). Tina was also really nice.

Did you tell her that you think she is dire and should be axed? Laughing

No, I asked her about her dog because he was in the car with her. She brought him to the set. I dont think she is "dire" - I like Tina O' Brien, and she seemed lovely when I met her- its Sarah Platt that I dont really like that much, she has been overused a lot ever since she came into the series. I have nothing against Tina at all - i'll have to write to her to see if she will send me an autograph.

Just a little note here, Network have updated their website with the episode listing for the new 1960s box set: page is here. Some very good episodes contained here, such as the numerous weddings, the Ena and Elsie clashes, the Viaduct train crash, the coach wreck etc. Should be interesting watching this box set; so far, I only obtain the first 14 episodes (as does Jez) and some random episodes from the decade.

So, who's pre-ordering? Smile

Sorry I'm a bit late with this - not been on for a day! Just watched the YouTube clip. Isn't it lovely? A 1'45" credit sequence from when no-one had ever heard the letters ECP - those were the days!

I've just been reading over at the DS forums that - according to InsideSoap - an upcoming storyline involving the return of Kevin's dad will see the Websters and Craig journeying to Paris. Rosie & Craig's relationship will crumble over there (ironically) resulting in his final exit from the soap.

Excellent! Thanks for posting the link. I only have the first 12 episodes plus a video from the 1990 releases (1960/1) which contained the first episode, plus another 3 from 1961 so it will be good to have 60s episodes to add to my collection.

Bit disappointing they are putting the first 8 episodes on the DVD's as some people will already have them from the video release of the first 12 episodes. But I guess to fill the first disc (1960) there wasnt a lot they could do as there were only 7 episodes shown in 1960!

Look forward to all those episodes of Elsie, Annie and the 3 witches! (Ena, Minnie, Martha)

Ive ordered mine, I pre ordered it in May!

Looks like thats the last we have seen of both Nathan and Chris then. I hope Maria doesnt get back together with Tyrone, I feel he is much better suited to Molly, and besides how long would it take before she decided she didnt love him afterall, we have been there so many times before.

isn't she meant to fall for charlie?

anyway here's a query, Is Betty Williams the only long standing character to never live on the street?

At least we can thank Granada's archival policy for these DVDs. If Granada were like the BBC, most episodes from the 60s, and a fair amount from the 70s would be missing.

Not the only one, but the longest serving character not living on the Street. Betty actually stayed at the Corner Shop for a while when she first arrived, her sister Maggie Clegg was running the shop. But shortly after that she moved to Hillside Crescent and has lived there ever since. Quite how far away that is from Coronation Street I dont know, she used to walk home from the Rovers until she was mugged in 1982, so it cant be that far away.

Roy and Hayley live on Victoria Street so have never actually lived on Coronation Street. Audrey also hasnt lived on Coronation Street since 1989 when she persuaded Alf to move to a more upper class area of Weatherfield!

Was the first "half"of Corrie only 5 mins long - or did ITV start it early? I was a bit busy so forgot to turn on at 7.30.

Yes it was about 5 minutes long, I was surprised they went to a break so soon.

Quite a mixed episode tonight, the stuff with Tyrone and Maria was tedious but I like the stuff with Danny and Leanne.
