The section between the front windows is much wider than we're used to seeing, with the sign we usually see beside the
front doors slapbang in the middle. The sign above says "THE ROVERS RETURN" rather than "ROVERS RETURN INN"
and the overall width must be at least 30% more than it is on the current (and original) outdoor set.
It's as if the pub's shrunk! At least that'll save 'em a few bob when they finally replace that 20 year old wallpaper!
there is also a window between the pub door and number 1, obviously where the toilets would be. This was probably removed to make space therefore making the toilet doors lead into Albert Tatlock's Parlour.
I think the mission is actually next to the rovers, if you follow the roof line.
Also look at the street view when Minnie and Martha's names are shown, Archie street has about 13 houses and the one next to the shop is the opposite way round to number 13, (front door on the left)
just found a clip on your tube showing some really old closing titles where camera moves along the full length of the street stopping outside the house of the characters featured in the episode. When it gets to the rovers see how big it is, might explain it's tardis propotions.
Also notice the glad tidings mission is next to the rovers on archie street so the pub was never on the corner in the first place
What a fabulous clip. Can't say I've ever seen the Rovers looking like that.
Great to hear the theme in full, too.
You know, I've always been a little dismissive about watching old episodes, but I'm beginning to think I might want to borrow some of Jez's collection
lol - ive got loads. The 70s and 80s DVD sets, the first 12 episodes from 1960 which were released on video, some of the year videos which were released in 1990 to celebrate the first 30 years, and loads taped from Granada Plus repeats. I did start taping every episode shown on ITV1 from Sept 2004 onwards, but gave up taping them all last summer as it was getting riduculous with all those tapes. Ive got all the Killer Katy stuff and loads of Mad Maya too.
The 70's and 80's box sets are very good value for money IMO (but it does depend how much you love Corrie). The 1960s box set is being released on 31st July, not seen many 60s episodes at all so im not sure if i will enjoy this as much as the 70s/80s. Most of them will be in b/w so that might take some getting used to.
I'll bet there are huge sections of the 70s/80s that I will remember on seeing them again - it was certainly a fixture in my house throughout my childhood; even though my own appreciation of the show has happened relatively late in life.
The 60s clip certainly looked odd being b/w, but I reckon it would be fascinating to watch for the social hostory if nothing else.

indeed - although im more keen on seeing the 90s eps again, surely that must be next on the list when they've released the 60s
Yes they are, it'll be quite unusual when they actually come back

Anyway, yesterday I was outside Granada and met some of the cast! I met Tina O Brien who was also in her car driving out of the studios, she had her dog in the car with her, had a brief chat with her too (no autograph as she was in a rush). Tina was also really nice.
Did you tell her that you think she is dire and should be axed?
