Sorry to go off-topic like this, but I have rather strange news regarding the viaduct on Rosamund Street. A source I have (who works for the show) has said that the reason that the crew are covering up the arch with vans is because Granada has constructed a railing, which obstructs the view of the mural of continuing streets on the backlot wall. They put up the railing because a crew member fell off the end of the viaduct; I'm sure you all know that the exterior set is raised above the ground, and the only way of getting onto the set is via a ramp at the bottom of Viaduct Street, just at the side of the Corner Shop. However, they "forgot" to put vehicle access on the Rosamund Street arch. Rather strange indeed!
I don't have a photograph to show you at the moment, but I'll try to find one. In my opinion, the viaduct should be torn down; it's a waste of time, it doesn't even go anywhere.

that's interesting, funny it wasn't reported in the news, maybe granada are a bit embarrassed
the raised part of rosamund street has always been there but there was a wall across when the tour was opened, bit daft to take it out and leave a drop, maybe now they will put a ramp in.
here a link showing the set, the viaduct and the drop behind it

If you'll remember back to the set expansion back in 2000, they left the wall there, and only took it down in 2005 when they added the ghastly backdrop. I've just found a picture of it whilst on Google; image copyright unknown. Notice how the chippy has suddenly moved forward - no doubt it was done-up when Cilla started work there.

Of course it doesn't....it's not real! Next you will be writing to Weatherfield Council asking why the Rovers Return doesn't have a real licence!
(only joking - it's just your comment made me chuckle)
How rude
(and fattist!)
she didn't need that much extra space!

When I went there, we entered the set via the door of what is now the medical centre, although that was even longer ago. In fact Mike Baldwin's original factory had just been demolished, so I suppose we're talking late 80s.

I remember when I went on the Granada tours they had steps up to the street and we entered the set the Rovers side rather than the Corner Shop side. Mind you thats the best part of 10 years ago now.

I know! It could be one of those stand-alone bridges, though. As per Cilla's weight... touchy subject! I do wonder why it was pulled forward, though. Probably because the original set did not have enough "camera space"?

I went on the tour 4 times, twice in 1991, in 1993, where i saw some filming and finally in 1996.
also visited the museum next door for a peep through the windows in 2002 and 2005 which is when i saw them filming smichael being run over
talking of smichael has the dog actually been in it since he got run over, don't recall seeing him

Coronation Street isn't on tommorow by the way
Despite it being billed in the No Football schedule, the combination of World Cup matches being shown on ITV would have lead to them come out of the end of the competition being one episode ahead all the time
So, its back on Friday at 7.30 (with a 'Sunday' episode) and then next Monday for an hour at 7.00
Overall Coronation Street have not gained or lost an episode, Emmerdale have however lost 4 episodes during the past 4 weeks
