When is Jane Danson due to leave the Street? The clipboard she is going to give birth to looks due any time now... it gets bigger every episode Wink

Does anyone know how Leanne is to be written out? Will she leave with Janice? I hope so-- Jan is starting to grate!

I really do wish they'd not brought Janice back - her stupid bitchy rants are so boring coz its all the character ever does. I used to feel some sympathy for Janice, but I couldn't give a stuff about her now.

Is it just me or was the audio quality for the first half of Coronation Street tonight very dodgy? Sounded very echoing and vacuous - most peculiar.
Then when I switched over to watch the second half on TV3 which runs a bit earlier (lots of people in Ireland do to avoid ITV's ad break Very Happy), the intro sting into Part 2 repeated itself in the middle, as if they were two audio tracks laid down slightly out of sync!

Sounds like a source, i.e master copy problem rather than either broadcaster's...

Do TV3 have the same version as ITV1, i.e. does the version on TV3 have the horrid ITV corporate closing credits and the "ITV Productions" animation and the Cadbury's sponsorship? And are the double episodes handled in the same way? Just curious. (When ITV first started the end credit promotions and the credits were fixed to a panel on the right-hand side, apparently the export version of the Street continued to have the usual closing credit sequence.)

As for ghosts, they have already been there with Betty thinking she saw a ghost in the Rovers in 1975!

Plus of course Vera famously thought she'd seen the ghost of Ivy.

Incidentally, I'm impressed that Dev has forked out for a 16:9 CCTV system. Wink

Vera told everyone in the Rovers about the ghost, and no-one believed her.... so she said: "You're all septics !!" [sic]. Laughing

I too love the way Dev starts quietly then shouts suddenly saying OK!! all the time.

I can't think whether Amber's constant use of "innit", "man", "whatever", "like/so" is an endearing blend of Valley Girl/Manc/Asian culture or just highly irritating!

brookside was always doing flashbacks which somtimes looked silly because they were from the viewers perspective not the characters.

like when max remembered the car crash which killed his children, he saw the accident from 'our' perspective and he wasn't even there.

maybe corrie want to try some new things which are a little more exciting than turning the sets around to face the fireplaces.

Last time I was in Ireland, everything was the same. The scheduling of the episodes, including the Monday double, and the end credits. Obviously it would have the ITV Productions end-cap as they make the show.

Ive noticed that whilst the endcap has changed to ITV the copyright is still Granada Television which is good.

I can tell you the week after next (week commencing Sunday 18th June) there will be 8 episodes of Corrie broadcast. Whether this is because the following week there wont be enough room to fit in the usual amount of episodes due to the World Cup or because they just want to screen extra episodes i dont know.

why does corrie have the same end background as other itv programmes like the bill when emerdale has it's own titles over views of yorkshire

In Ireland TV3 operate to the same schedule as UTV. I'd imagine they don't broadcast earlier because ITV own a stake in TV3 so it makes no difference to them if they don't. But if they did , UTV would be up in arms given they've more viewers in the South than in their own territory, and may well end their Corrie contract if TV3 got a headstart.
Also all of ITV's franchised programmes later on UTV would lose out if viewers weren't watching Corrie there too.

TV3 usually starts at 19.29, while UTV starts in line with the ITV network at around 19.33. So if you start watching with UTV, by the time the break comes, TV3's four minute headstart is ending, so you get an almost seamless join in Part 1 and 2, avoiding an ad break altogether! Very Happy
