So you're basing this on what would happen to you and that's typical of how everyone would react is it ? I think you'll find that many mothers would react exactly the way that Gail did tonight.
Many wouldn't want to think the worst of their kids, and instead think it reflects badly on their own parenting, after all it was Gail that brought a murderer into the home. No wonder he's got issues.
I completely agree with you Square Eyes. It could only have been David sending the cards really - he had the original motive of getting rid of Phil - and everyone else were too busy with their own issues (Craig, Eillen etc). I thought Gail's reaction (particularly when she confronted him) was realistic and terrific - both in terms of the excellent script and some of Helen Worth's best ever acting IMO.
It was always too neat to put the impact of the Hillman murders (and attempted murders) to one side - just carry on as normal like soaps normally do. David was about 11/12 when it all kicked off, it's bound to have left him with some deep scars. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.
Hillman's actions are still having repercussions with Ashley and Claire too.
It is Corrie's style to weave in plots and events that come from the characters - it makes the Hillman plot less sensationalist by doing this, it's great.
On a different note, please can they sort Dev out - his whole set up is unrealistic. He's got practically no staff in the corner shop (how does he run all the others / buy stock/ see accountants / nip to the loo etc?). The whole set up needs a reality check.
And can someone please explain what all the building work is for in the factory - has it been explained in the plot and I've missed it?
