Has anyone else noticed that we've not seen the shop in ages? I'm not complaining though because everytime I see the set (the most unrealistic shop set in the world ever) it makes me mad! Looking back at Alf Roberts' "mini-mart" when he refurbished in the 1980s, it was far more realistic then. The last time I saw the shop, there were random goods dotted on the one or two shelves, in no particular order and in a complete mess. Even the grottiest corner shops have some arrangement of stock on real shelves! Also, who works there now? Is it just Dev? If so, how does he keep it open all hours, and run 7 other shops, and buy all the stock etc? Sunita should come back (having taken just the Coronation Street shop in a divorce settlement) and run it - the twins could be cared for by her family (it may be good to see more of them) and she just comes to the street to work like Audrey, Betty and a few factory girls do. Oh, and GET RID OF DEV for good!

I do also think that Dev should go - as some posted here before, they did drop the wrong actor, Sunita should have stayed. Regarding the shop, it does looks like the most unrealistic exterior I have seen, never mind the interior. Even the previous design (before the ghastly blue), which had been in use for nearly 20 years, looked more realistic than the current frontage.

one of theses days they may get the shop flat to fit into the available space, the entry door keeps changing sides, now it's on the same side as the window facing the viaduct where as before the fire it was on the opposite side, and to all intents and purposes the kitchen is in mid air

it is not too difficult to work out how the interior would fit in by looking at the first floor windows

Was it just me, or did anyone else cheer when Adam punched Danny - whenever Danny said something to Adam, he just seemed to pout* and remain silent.

* - i.e., sticking his lips out and grinning. Yep.

Much to my suprise I found myself cheering then too! Danny really deserved it.

Your totally not alone there, Danny totally deserved it.

Read on Teletext today that a Civil Engineering organisations are offering the makers of Corrie £35,000 to create a character who would show engineering in a good light in an effort to encourage more young people to take up the career!

Isn't this illegal?

Ive never understood the layout of the Corner Shop flat. Before Alf had the shop made into a mini market in 1985 the only way to get up to the shop flat was via a stairs in the backroom, and the back room was actually a living room and much bigger (the shop was therefore smaller) so im not sure where they kept their stock. Now I think the only way to enter the flat is via the side door and stairs. The layout of the actual flat has never made sense either.

the only consistency they have had is that the front window is the bedroom and the side window the living room, the entrance used to be on outside wall of the flat, sensible as it would lead straight down the stairs to the side entry but before the fire it had moved to the other side wall ajoining the websters house.

now it has moved back again

lloyd and kelly's flat is rather big as well considering it's the back end of the salon

and steve's flat has a mystery kitchen window which isn't on the outdoor set (it would face the side wall of the garage)

to be honest non of the internal flat sets match up very well to their exterior counterparts

onto tonights episode and becky must have heat proof hands the way she took the dish out of the microwave without so much as an oven glove Shocked

I remember in 1990 when Alf & Audrey were living int here it was alsdo in a totally different place. It's a flat that defies the laws of physics.

Some great lines again tonight I thought!

All the small inconsistencies with the sets pale into insignificance when compared with the utter nonsense of the Rovers set! The kitchen would be in the middle of Rosamund Street if the exterior and interiors matched up - and where does that side door (visible on the Rosamund Street elevation) go to inside the Rovers?

They need to find an excuse to put that set right once and for all. It wouldn't take much to make it more accurate - maybe a new owner should get the builders in to fit a disabled loo or a door from the bar to the back yard for smokers - and then use that to shift the stairs and switch the backrooms around 90 degrees? And some new wallpaper - it's 20 years old this year...

But don't get me started on that viaduct to nowhere over Rosamund Street - it doesn't even tie up with any of the rear shots of the street shown in the opening titles - but did anyone notice that they showed the view beyond and through the arch (as per the opening titles) when Danny drove into the Street a few episodes ago?

I've also noticed that into Part Two today, they had a shot of the old triangular canopy over Underworld's door - I'm sure it was recently replaced with a flat roofed porch. What's with the polythene and "men at work" stuff inside the factory too?

Good episode tonight and good to see a love triangle featuring jealous pensioners rather than the usual teenage Jason / Sarah saga.

Yes its high time the Rovers got a makeover. It will be 20 years next month since the fire which was the last time they changed the wallpaper!

However the current inside set of the Rovers looks far more realistic than the set they had before the fire. As well as the main bar and the snug they also had quite a large function room (The Select).

From Digital Spy: SPOILER: David is still poorly and takes the day off school. Gail checks the post but nothing sinister has arrived so she heads off to work. But later on in the day Gail comes back to check on David and sees an envelope standing on the kitchen table. She pulls a card from it and reads the printed message inside: ’Get well soon David. Richard’. She immediately realises that someone must have put it in the house and starts to panic. She screams upstairs for David to see if he is ok. David is unharmed and again accuses Phil of being the culprit, as he had a key to the house. Later on, Audrey comes over to see if Gail is ok, and notices a drop of blood on the card. Gail wonders if this will lead them to the perpetrator and wastes no time in calling the police. The evil poison pen writer is soon to be discovered!

This gives it away doesn't it? How would anyone else know to send a card on that particular day?

Yes, that viaduct is stupid. It's not just the rear shots on the titles when it doesn't exist. It's not even there on the opening wide shot from the front. Plus if it supposedly continues behind the street, it will join the other (original) viaduct at a right angle which would be impossible.

And re your earlier point about Adam's acting. I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought it had improved. Maybe knowing he'd have a big story coming up, they used his recent absence to give him some intensive coaching.

Another unconnected point... I've got to say how much I love Sean referring to 'Miss Leanne'. It's just sooo Crossroads. Very Happy
