Coronation Street makers Granada TV will get 15,000 towards a gym its millionaire stars will be able to use.
They are among 41 wealthy firms handed Lottery cash by Sport England as part of a Government-backed campaign to improve fitness levels of office staff.

Blah blah blah

Do you just trawl the internet looking for any tenuous negative article relating to Coronation Street ? You are obviously consumed with vitriol against a soap vastly superior in almost every department than that of your personal preference.

The article is about a facility at Granada TV, it is not directly related to Coronation Street.

Perhaps some of your dour Pauline Fowler-esque doom and gloom would be better suited to your Eastenders thread. At the same time why not reproduce an article putting a positive spin on your soap of choice there Laughing

No idea about Maggie Jones but she has attended awards shows a few times and does give interviews in those Corrie family album things on occasions.

Which Award shows has Maggie attended? because everytime she's been nominated for an award they've stuck her publicity photograph in the frame when a winner is announced. I've never seen her turn up. Confused

She was definately at the National TV Awards in 2000 as Tina O Brien won Best Newcomer and she was in the audience (Corrie also got Best Soap this year!), dont think ive ever seen her attend the soap awards though.

I agree Square Eyes, Banksoriginal's constant negative comments about Corrie are becoming boring now. I hate EE as much as he hates Corrie but dont go posting stuff in the EE thread, I dont even watch it.

Apart from the classic clips "An Audience With..." was dire. I don't think I've ever seen so much self back patting. All the show did for me was highlight just how good Corrie was, and how it isn't now.

Ian Hyland said a similar thing in the NOTW on Sunday. Apparently he's receiving an increasing number of letters from people saying they're only watching out of habit and complaining about 2 things.

1. Lazy writing. An example of my own - the number of times someone conviniently walks is in behind someone gossiping/bitching them. It happened twice in one episode the other day. Rolling Eyes

2. Bad continuity - like how come we're led to believe Mike Baldwin is loaded when he's only actually got 1 factory - which was close to going under afew years ago! Why was Jamie's mum nowhere to be seen at the funeral, or even mentioned? - she was an ex lover. Why was Deirdre's grief for Mike grief was suddenly shoehorned in for about 5 seconds two weeks later? And another of my own examples. How can a show that completely ignored the entire Easter holidays make a deal of no one respecting St George's day anymore!? Rolling Eyes

An interesting story on MediaGuardian about a new Ofcom report out

Coronation Street is the UK's most popular programme overall but only comes top in five English regions - the north-west, north-east, Midlands, Yorkshire and Border - and in Northern Ireland.

For the rest of the country, EastEnders is the most popular programme, with Coronation Street ranked as low as fifth in London.

EastEnders does not even feature in the Border region top 10, despite topping the lists in Scotland and Wales.

Border is the only part of the UK where all the programmes in its top 10 are on ITV1.

BBC1 does best in the south-west and the east of England, where it has eight out of the top 10-rated programmes.

There are no programmes from BBC2, Channel 4, Channel Five or any other broadcaster in any of the top 10s.

So it really does follow that Northerners prefer to watch Corrie but Southerners like EastEnders. Funny that in the Border region nobody watches EastEnders, plus, and not surprising, Corrie is liked the least in London

I wonder if that follows on this forum as well?

I'm not sure what your definition of loaded is, but owning a villa in Spain, apartment in "the quays", and a business that must be doing ok (nothing to suggest otherwise in recent years) Mike would've been fairly well off - particularly in comparison to most others in the Street.

What had Jamie's mum (I assume you mean Carol) got to do with Mike? She wasn't an "ex -lover" of Mike and had no reason to be at his funeral.

Deirdre showed her grief on several occasions - this actually stood out to me.

Otherwise, as far as I remember, you are right there wasn't a mention of Easter - and who would have a funeral on the Bank Holiday?

Well if Ian Hyland said it it must be true. Rolling Eyes
He's a TV critic who has been running anti-EastEnders columns for years, he's probably run out of stuff to say so turned his attentions to Corrie. It's only his opinion not fact!

Sorry maybe i need my eyes tested,But where in my post did i say it was a " FACT? Confused:

I for one cannot believe somebody is having a go at ....CORRIE for bad continuity and storylines. Pur-lease! Rolling Eyes The main thing is, it isn't noticeable unlike a certain other soap based in Albert Square.

I'm a Southerner and am pleased to say I prefer Corrie far more to EastEnders - ask me that 10 years ago and my answer may have been different but times have changed and EastEnders has turned into Jackanory!

Well they obviously didnt have an episode set on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday which was why it wasnt mentioned.
