I didn't see the 1983 episode but I agree about the shoddy camera work especially in the "Why did you put the phone down on me?" "Its Ken, he knows everything" bit.

Basically when Mike turns up at the Barlows - in that awful grey rain mac! Laughing

part of the reason for the shoddy camera work is because the hall scenes were filmed from the stairs, the scene where tracy goes up to bed is cut short quickly because the child couldn't get passed the camera,

i think the scene where mike is at the door was filmed in the hallway of the street set rather than the interior set . The street set was less that a year old at that point so they may have been trying out new camera angles and realised it didn't look good because now they film somebody at a door from the hall rather than the stairs.

the episode is interesting in relationship to the farewell mike story where we see mike walk up to the door of number one and ring the bell, whilst asking us if we 'remember that night in 83'

I thought they were recreating a scene from the 83 episode where he crosses from the factory and rings the barlows door bell, yet what we saw last night showed ken and derdrie in their hallway as mike knocks on the door, we don't see him cross the street, was that bit edited out?

also mike said 'night', when he was still at work when it happened, and tracy was still at school, so it must have been afternoon

interesting to see tracy in it, must have been just before she disappeared for two years because the family of the child playing her suddenly emigrated at short notice

Just watching today's 'Classic' episode, and it's made me realise... when did we last see Audrey's house? Has it been seen since the Hillman storyline?

I don't think it was. At that point, location scenes were still on film, that scene was on video.

They're using the new credits with no music.

Looks like they've replaced the credits again. Obviously not wanting the hearts credits to pop up- showing the absolute redcuolousness of only producing the show with those credits, meaning repeats have to show credits in ITV's outdated branding style.

Well as far as i know nothing was edited - ive compaired yesterdays episode with the version I have from Granada Plus on tape (they were known for editing stuff) and its the same (and Granada Plus actually used the Granada colour production front and endcap for this episode when usually they used their own endcap and no frontcap) so it might well have been the plus butchered version shown. However as I pointed out there were 2 people listed in the credits who didnt appear which makes me think they might have edited something.

As for Mike, I dont think we saw him cross the street - he put the phone down and we saw him get up, then it cut to the Barlows where there was a loud knock on the door and Ken told Deridre to ignore it.

Tracey Mark 1 made her last appearance in November 1983 - 9 months after this episode was shown. We then didnt see Tracy until July 1985 when Holly Chamarette took over and played her until March 1988. She was then off screen again for a while until Dawn Acton took over in late 1988, and then of course Kate Ford took over in December 2002.

With regards to todays episode, ive not seen it yet just the end credits and I noticed that they went to the trouble of having no music yet the announcer still made a comment!

It was nice to see Linda Baldwin again. I had a strange sort of crush on her back then.

Roy and Hayley hadn't changed much. Would have been nice to have seen some pub shots with Duggie Ferguson, Geena, Betty etc but alas wasn't in that episode.

didn't see the show in 2001 as i had no telly so wasn't sure whether linda had had her affair with mark at the point of alma's death, mike didn't seem keen to see her for some reason.

interesting observation in the scene where audrey and linda walk from the car to her house, there is somebody shouting at them off camera which makes both audrey and linda look to their right and then walk faster, wonder what that was all about.

I don't think audreys house has been see since the hilman story line, the last time was when ashley found out the platts knew richard had killed maxine and he round round to audreys to have a go a gail

audrey, like rita, is hardly seen at home, rita's flat has only recently been dusted down and pressed into service for the orchid storyline and now the story with noris living there

talking of flats where exactly is janice's old flat meant to be, is it above the butchers

No, but it is on Victoria Street; I think the flat is part of that shop unit on Central Street, which is just round the corner from Victoria Street.

i didn't know there was a central street, is there any more room?
