apart from loosing transmition just after it started it was good to see a whole old episode which i actually remember watching although i thought the 2006 end caps spoilt it.
interesting how there were fewer locations in 1983, they only had 5 : barlows, rovers, factory, ogdens and the street, the scenes were also longer, some over two minutes
compaired to last nights episode which had 11 locations: rovers, barlows, frankies, duckworths, kabin, factory, garage, mikes's flat, the clock, the cafe and the street and only one scene was over a minute long (rita and noris talking at 'the clock')
the pace of of the street must have changed in 23 years
onto last night episode when janice returned why did she get off the bus in coronation street and then turn up at mike's flat

Spot on. I remember that storyline particularly as one of the episodes from the time had somehow remained intact at the end of one of my parents' videotapes from its original airing in 1983 (IIRC). It was a good episode too, and featured Victor Pendlebury trying to woo Mavis, plus Hilda going to her brother's funeral. Stan waving out of the window of the funeral car and shouting "Ta-ra girls" at Vera, Ivy and co. outside the factory still makes me laugh.

Vera's fake name was Carole Munroe wasnt it? I know my classic Corrie!

Knew they'd be some moans about the credits - I think we all feel the same - to be honest I wanted to see the credits more than the programme!
Not quite sure how well the episode works in isolation - I certainly felt alot of the story would come in the episode before and the episode after. They'd have been better off showing the sequence of episodes throughout the week.
And what shoddy camerawork!

Thought there were some interesting angles though, you got to see the Barlows front room which looked like Uncle Alberts bedsit, which must have been very cramped.
You also got to see the wall in the Barlows that you never see these days with the camera looking into the room from the hallway.
Whilst this is a true classic, it's meant to be episodes featuring Mike, and although he had involvement here, this seemed very much a Ken & Deirdrie episode.

The end credits were annoying but at least they didnt hack the episode to death - I didnt notice any cuts anyway. I have this episode on video from the Granada Plus showing and they edited out bits to fit in more ads.
I throughly enjoyed the episode. Always been one of my favourites. And yes there were longer scenes in those days which means less scenes in a episode overall, less characters and more interaction between storylines - these days often storylines are completely seperate to each other but they used to link together a lot more back then.
Shame there was no Betty, Reet, Gail and R Brian in this episode. We did see Tracy Mark 1, Hilda and Ivy lips Tilsley. I agree that Mike didnt have a major part in this episode - but they obviously chose it because it featured *the* scene they always show in clips with Mike, Deirdre and Ken, and Anne Kirkbride always says in interviews where she is sitting by the table in the living room they werent supposed to be filming then but kept the camera rolling and left it in.

I dont remember seeing Bert and Alf in this episode (although Alf was mentioned) - could have been credited in error I suppose but it makes me think they might have edited a scene in the Rovers or something.
Sad to think that out of that cast so many are no longer with us including Doris Speed, Peter Dudley and of course Lynne Perrie.

This bit amuses me every time. Other shows would have "Created by..." or something!
And I think its appeared on every episode apart from the first however many that he actually wrote himself.
Apparently he sent his "idea" to the BBC and never heard back - bet they are kicking themselves now.
