Given all the hype before hand I found the whole episode a bit of a let down, surely a long standing character like Mike deserved a bit more of an ending, the silence was good but the blue stripes and the voice over killed it.

Yes, ratings are low compared to a few years ago - but the soaps are still by far the biggest rating shows on TV - and hence why crap like EastEnders hasn't got the axe!
However, C4's ratings have improved quite significantly since Brookside got the axe.

I liked the way the Factory Girls referred to him as "Old Mr Baldwin" like something off Are You Being Served!. It won't be the same without Mike running the factory, sacking people left right and centre
Also, you probably won't agree, but have you noticed how Joanne has become a better character since her larger than life sister left the street. And that Kelly has gained more depth since her strange friend Becky appeared
i agree that kelly's character has come on, also joanne, rather than just being nondescript factory girls
the farwell mike programme was good, interestesting to see how small the old outside set looks compaired with the existing one.
did notice a slight error in the clip showing sally and denise taking and holding babies sophie and daniel, sally looked very pregnant, did the actress have a child at the same time

Agreed about Joanne and Kelly but I wish that Becky would disappear again as soon as she appeared!

Actually I agree. I was only thinking the other night when Joanne was on screen how much better she has been recently. Id like to see her get a bigger role to give the chance to develop her character more.
Kelly is also much better now and im liking the storyline with her "friend" Becky.
I seem to take a liking to Kelly, I'm worried about Becky, she seems mental! Also I dunno if it's just me, but I liked the current people that are in Underworld at the moment.
