No one dies from Alzheimers - its the subsequent illnesses they die from. I know as my gran has been seriously ill a few times, but has, so far, survived!
But very little time is shown about the consequencies on the immediate family and friends.
HIV/Aids is the same, btw - no-one from from HIV/Aids - its the subsequent illnesses

Sounds like they are desperate to keep Bradley at Corrie what with so many cast leaving this year.
I read in the paper the other day that ITV are worried that ratings will fall after Mike's death and they are going to be making some new promotions for Corrie - simular to "Killer Corrie" and "Street Heat" by the sound of it.
I dont think ratings will fall - after Ena, Elsie, Hilda all left Corrie people carried on watching, people will carry on watching even when Ken Barlow goes.

Agree the Mike thing should have been dragged out longer - until the Autumn would have been more appropriate.
People complained about the length the Charile / Shelly storyline went on - but seem to forget soaps are designed to reflect real life - and often domestic abuse goes on for months, if not years, before any action is taken.
Back to the Mike storyline and I hope they don't do the thing most soaps do after the death of someone and send Danny off on holiday to come to terms with his grief.

Indeed it does. However it was boring to watch for so long. Whilst soaps are meant to reflect real life there has to be some balance there which is why storylines often have a different time frame to what a simular situation would be in real life. I think its for the best that the Mike storyline ends now.
I think we are going to see a lot of Danny in the coming months, the aftermath of Mike's death is apparently going to be "huge".

Tonights episode was good, although I didn't care much about Chesney. Having said that, I could tolerate those scenes, as the rest of the episode was brilliant. One of the highlights was Norris' party. I couldn't help feeling for him when they all left.
Mikes scenes were absolutely brilliant again, especially the final scene. Johnny Briggs is really outdoing himself with this story. I was almost in tears with his scene with Danny. Bradley Walsh has also been absolutely fantastic in this storyline, as have everybody who has been involved.

Just to point out - he did try and get into number 5 on Wednesday (I think?) and ended up playing cards with Chesney.
I do agree that the storyline is coming to an abrupt end, and I also agree that it could have played out for as long as the stupid Shelley/Charlie storyline.

back to the mike story line i thought he might try and get into the battersbys as he used to live there, he still hasn't wondered where number 7 came from as it wasn't there when he lived at number 5
i half expected him to ask about ernest when emily visited him last night

It's been going on quite a long time, When was the first we heard of Mike's condition, was it when the Baldwins were having that meal at the Clock?
The storyline isn't ending abrubt really, once he's dead there's all the aftermath and the funeral. It could have gone on a bit longer but probably didn't want it turning into a comedy farce (what's Mike going to do next etc)
