I see another ex-Corrie legend is having a Jean Alexander moan...

Well, 'I don't really know' what to say about that. Wink

I don't think they should take it off the air, just not bother rescheduling episodes - if football clashes, then remove it from the evening.

That be the best compromise - I think the first couple of weeks of the World Cup Corrie will air without problems on Monday and Wednesday, so I'd just drop the Sunday and Friday episodes.

My guess though is it's likely they'll screen extra episodes at 10pm on the Monday and Wednesday - or delay the screenings on match day to 10pm.

Are the writers planning a big storyline, because I've notice Phil grabs David on the arm quiet alot, I'm begining to think we might get a dark storyline. Shocked

I think they will just show Coronation Street at 7pm on days when there is football at 8pm and drop an episode of Emmerdale. I don't think it effects that many episodes, especially when they can make up Emmerdale by showing an hour long special on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Ah yes, Mavis's famous catchphrase, second only to "really Rita! dont be so silly".

1996 was my leave favourite period of the show ever so I thought Brian Park really turned the show around when he became producer and made it great again. The only downside was that Thelma quit because her screen husband was killed off. Its a shame Thelma/Mavis will never return, Mavis and Rita are one of the best double acts in the history of the series. I loved all those scenes in the Kabin, Rita would wind her up and watch her go. It was a sad day for Corrie when Mavis left.

David could kill Phil. That'd be a twist in the tale.

Not another murder - it would be too soon after Killer Katy.

Agreed, Norris (then Derek's friend) was obviously brought in to replace Mavis with Rita in the Kabin etc... never works in my view, I just find him irritating. Mavis always played the innocent against what Rita said whereas Norris tends to always believes he's right.

Which was disastrous as a plotline anyway, and completely ridiculous.

read today that some people are upset at coronation street filming on saddleworth moor, i can understand the familys involved being upset if the story related to the moors murders but as it seems to be sally and rosie simply being stuck there when the car breaks down i cant see the fuss really.

according to the sun (enough said) sally does it to scare rosie. why are some people choosing to believe a newspaper who would sensationalise what the dog had for breakfast over what granada are saying the scene is really about

i'm sure other programmes have been filmed on saddleworth moor

I really enjoyed last nights double episode - Eileen Derbyshire's performace as Emily, as she took the shocking news in was brilliant. It will be interesting to see if Emily is finally able to forgive him in the end.

Now Emily and Rita have both had brilliant storylines , id like to see Betty also have a storyline, her grandson should be about 20 now so they could possibly write him into it for a storyline.

The storyline with Charlie and Tracy really moved on last night as well - I felt sorry for Shelly when Tracy was nasty to her in the Rovers but Shelly was only trying to warn her. I think Charlie proved Shelly's point when he came in at the end.

Interesting to note that last nights episode (or double episode) was the first time that Steve Frosts and Kieran Roberts names appeared at the end. Obviously we won't see the their results for a while, but just thought I'd mention it. Tony Wood has officially left the building.
