Tonight's episode was going so well: Rita and the whole cooking / book group stuff; nasty Phil, Eileen and Ed....
And then....
Who on earth would continue to drive a vehicle that was on fire? Even Tyrone wouldn't be that stupid. And then to crash it into a lake? Absolutely pathetic - it totally ruined the episode for me

Anyone in their right mind would get out and run for their life before it exploded and then called the fire brigade, not endanger their life further by driving into a lake! That was like something id expect in a daft comedy not a prime time soap.

Exactly. I know that soaps aren't supposed to stretch the mind, but that was downright insulting to the viewer's intelligence tonight.
It would have been better if it had cut from when they noticed the fire to another scene - then back to them with the firemen putting out the vehicle and Tyrone getting emotional about everything he tries going wrong - and then Molly coming in to comfort him, then they end up kissing.

It only accounted for a small part of the episode though, you're taking as if it was the only scene
What about the latest with Phil and David?. Did you ever get the feeling that David doesn't like Westlife?!
Also, Audrey seemed to be enjoying Rita's drunken ramble. Are Audrey and Rita still not friends?

Do I take it you agree that it was rubbish, Andrew?
We usually disagree. Yes it was only part of what was otherwise a very good episode, but still totally stupid
I think Phil showed his true colours there tonight.

I'd said it was going so well - but the last scenes spoilt the episode for me, it was too stupid.
Otherwise it really is hotting up with David and Phil! Where will this all end?!

with reference to the fire in the chip van, what is the big NO NO about chip pan fires
DON'T THROW WATER ON THEM
so what air head though of the idea of tyrone (a qualified mechanic?) putting out a fat fire in the back of his burger van by driving it into a lake
here's what happens when you add water to buring fat
http://www.iomfire.com/fire_safe/Chip%20Pan%20fires.htm
enough said.
doing that would have ignited the petrol tank, blown up the van and probably killed the pair of them
(well somebody did say they wanted them axed in an earlier post)
i think they need to axe a few script writers not the actors

I agree. Driving the fan with it on fire was ok, but then deciding to drive into a lake to put it out was strange. As you say they could still have ended up kissing at the end

So you would drive a van that was on fire?
I totally agree with stevek - it's some of the script writers (or storyliners) who should be axed if they carry on with these pantos.
