Why do you think your post will damage Corrie? You really aren't that important you know.

I won't even click on the link to the BNP website, I wouldn't want to register as a hit, and I'm disgusted someone has come on here and set up a link to it.

you have posted a link from a far-right website on a thread about Coronation Street. The fact that you are wondering why people are "getting on your back" shows that you are either ignorant, or young and foolish or both

We all know what the B stands for in BNP - it sure ain't "British"...

The remark went completely over my head - why all the fuss?

The BNP article is a total non-story. It refers to Sunita's brother telling her that she will become "white trash" if she is a single parent and survives on benefits. He was stereotyping in the way that many do. He could as easily have used the word "chav". He certainly wasn't being portrayed as a sympathetic character - on the contrary.

On the point of Corrie v's EastEnders - I too have noticed the point-scoring comments from members of both camps.

It's not surprising given the fanatical nature of some soap fans, but we surely don't have to descend into Digital Spy nonsense, do we?

Imagine the outrage if it would have been racism towards a minority....Im sure the BNP have ulterior motives in this, either to deflect attention off Griffin in the news or to create a bit of a furore. But this racism towards the majority should still be treated the same as any racism towards a minority group!

But as a member of the supposedly injured party, I'm not making a fuss.

Its not as if racism has never been shown in soaps before, the comment was relevant to the storyline.

Now can we get back to discussing Corrie.

The exception rather than the rule with you, Simon.

Ahem.

Perhaps I accept Granada's explanation the quote reflected the views of an extremist character.

As do I. I'm only teasing.
