Random question here. I suppose it comes down to my bitter hatred of the double episodes:
Not including Christmas, can anybody remember the last 1 hour episode of Coronation Street, what time it aired and what day, and how this affected the other soaps? Probably the 40th in 2000.
Some highly interesting links here:

"ITV's director of programmes David Liddiment said: "Many people enjoy both EastEnders and Coronation Street - why would the BBC want to reduce viewer choice in this way?""
How hypocritical in light of recent Emmerdale/EE clashes.
Also worth noting Corrie is 45 today.

Last hour episode was around May time when they moved Corrie to 8.30pm on a Monday to boost Celeb Love Island.
I read the other day in the paper that the new director of programming (Simon Shaps?) at ITV is slashing Corrie and Emmerdale back to 3 nights a week (Corrie on Mon/Wed/Fri and Emmerdale on Tue/Wed/Thu) to make way for new "event television", it mentioned something about public outrage at less soaps on our screens but the good points outweighing the bad, oh I can't remember.
Only read it in the Doctor's.
It was only a small article besides, and will probably turn out to be bollocks. oh well we live in hope.

The last hour long episode was Spring Bank Holiday Monday 30th May
Coronation Street
Monday 30th May 2005 20:30 to 21:30

The previous one was just over a year before that one
Coronation Street
Monday 3rd May 2004 20:30 to 21:30
Cilla and Les reach breaking point, but where will this leave Chesney? Claire makes a confession when Ashley gets a surprise visit from her mother. Rita saves the day as Chesney turns his back on Weatherfield. Claire's decision to take matters into her own hands leaves Ashley reeling. Starring: Wendi Peters, Bruce Jones, Sam Aston, Julia Haworth, Steven Arnold, Yvonne O'Grady
I expect this one was two serperate episodes stuck together as well.

My memory is bad, but that rings a bell. I actually can't remember that being one hour long, but it probably was. I suppose this was before the blasted double episodes that were once exciting but that are now nothing short of hateful.
An odd idea though 7.30pm to 8.30pm, where did Heartbeat/ The Royal/ WTHI go?

Actually I think the last proper 1 hour special (that wasnt on Christmas Day) was Shelly's wedding to Peter in July 2003. This was shown on a Sunday and I have it on one of my many Corrie videos somewhere.
Excellent episode tonight - im glad they didnt go OTT for their 45th.
