Best episode we have had for a long time tonight. Rita finally put in an appearance, and a pissed Reet dancing with Norris was really funny. I liked the rest of the episode too, i felt sorry for Diggory, first time ive ever had any sympathy for the character.

The Danny and Leanne stuff was good, poor Frankie - Danny has really blown it now. I also liked the scene with Eileen and Deirdre talking to Frankie.

Over Christmas we have a number of Corrie specials;

Friday 23rd December at 8.30pm The Battersby Family Album
Monday 26th December at 8.00pm The Baldwin Family Album

And of course there is the Panto which is currently scheduled for Boxing Day at 6pm.

Cilla and Les's wedding was panto - I was disgusted. And 1 or 2 other episodes have been but its unfair to say EVERY episode is panto. Tonights certainly wasnt and was the best episode for a while as I said.

If that's all you've got to say go back to your EastEnders thread

I second that. I liked Diggory's announcement, it was also the first time for me that I've felt sorry for him.

I note that Ian Reddington (ex-Tricky Dicky from EastEnders) is now in Corrie - and trying to do a northern accent.

I found Friday's episode a bit boring actually, could have done with an extra storyline running through it.

As for the "Christmas Specials" - more evidence ITV have less and less hits. These Family Albums are fine for fillers, but not for Christmas weekend!

Can anyone remember Raquel's return to Coronation Street at New Year in, I think the year 2000?

It was a 45 minute episode, which I thought was very strange at the time, but to Corrie that was a special event. Shame, now we're bombarded with hour specials and double episodes everywhere. Rolling Eyes

Yeah I remember that. It was shown on New Years Day 2000. I agree, hour long episodes used to be special. Now there are so many episodes all year round.

It was a good one last night, it had all the right Corrie ingredients in a near perfect mix I thought.

I felt sorry for Diggory too, however I thought that someone would have "rescued" him earlier than when the band kicked back in - but hey it ain't real life Laughing

I really hope we get a strong romantic relationship forming between Bev and Fred, as I'd love to see Bev stay in the show (when Shelly goes out of it), and I'd like to see Fred lucky in love for a change. I think it's time Emily had some romance too - it's been a long time and I think she deserves some!

Yes I agree, it would be nice for Fred to be happy for a change. As long as he doesnt propose to her he should be OK.

Id also like to see RIta have some romance as well, or any kind of storyline really. Emily hasnt had a romance since that vicar she was going to marry around about 1993!
