the current set is the one introduced in 1982, the viaduct was open and blocked off at the other end by gates. The archway was used in the rovers fire episode for Ken and jack to park their cars away from the fire and in another eposide for a police car to hide in and catch mike baldwin for drink driving,

when stage 1 studios were open in 1990 the viaduct arch was blocked off and used as jims bike shop, the actual viaduct was incorperated into the studio buildings and the door in the viaduct arch oposite the side of the shop gives access to the set from the studio green room behind.

I saw a behind the scenes piece on this morning where the presenter showed us the door from the inside and then opened it up to reveal the out door set.

Incidentally there is a bit of a continuity problem with the viaduct length, because it was built when Mikes factory was on the south side of the street it didn't need to extent to the full width of viaduct street because it wasn't visible, Now the new houses and shops are there you can see on long shots from the rovers (one of the comercial break views) that the viaduct top should be visible behind Kevin's garage and the kabin, it's also quite obvious that it would go through the museum (brewery) building.

Jez posted this picture on the tv studio thread, this pic is from the 1980s before stage 1 was built behind the viaduct

Nice view Jez, I supose the pictures are out there if you know where to look, I saw one of the current set being built in a book I used to have but haven't found it on the net yet.

be nice to see some picture of insides the terrace

was the current pharmacy building on rosamund street there before the set was built, from the air it looks like part of the bonded warehouse behind it.

I thought I'd look at the old maps website, I tried to provide a link but it didn't work, looking at the old 1848 map provided the museum of science and industry building is there but no bonded warehouse, just a big gap, Liverpool road and Quay street are there with a peter street in between which I can old guess became grape street and then incorporated into the granada complex, any body know if you can get maps or aerial photos of the 60s-80s on the web?

Its been mentioned over at Digital Spy forums that there will be 3 episodes of Coronation Street on Monday 21st November at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 10.00pm.

No doubt this is so Corrie can help carry another series of Im A Celeb get me out of here Rolling Eyes - I only hope Corrie have a huge storyline planned to justify three episodes in the same night.

The Sun today has details of Corries Christmas day episodes. They revolve around three families. The Baldwins, Barlows and Battersbys. Tracy invites boths Steve & Charlie to Xmas dinner at the Barlow's, Over at the the Battersby's it's un-suprisingly "comedy" all the way as they have problems with the Turkey. And - as a result of Danny moving in with Leanne - Frankie spends Christmas alone. Plus it becomes apparent Mike has Alzheimer's.

Also over Christmas Fred & Shelly's mum (forgot her name) get it on, as do Audrey & Craig's dad (forgot his name too)

Doesnt it just. Poor end to a poor year. here's hoping 2006 is better.

Also something i forgot to mention. Sarah Platt is apparently going to become the shows latest "man eater" Rolling Eyes The skirts will be getting shorter and the t*ts will be coming out as she undergoes a sl*tty make over. It all starts in a couple of weeks when she embarks on a mission to steal Jason from Violet.

They did this with Maria a few years ago and turned her into a man eater.

So that will be a year to the day since Corrie had three episodes for Maya's Mad Monday, won't it?

As I said the other day, the character of Sarah has gone downhill a lot lately, ever since the Todd business.

I expect she'll announce she's leaving the street sometime in 2006 to go on to work on 'new projects', and then will disappear off TV before reappearing on I'm a Celebrity.. in 2007!
