It was like an episode they'd do for Comic Relief or Children in Need or something, I couldnt believe my eyes Shocked Rolling Eyes

I'm glad you agree Jez. I expected a backlash from the forum, it's nice to know someone else has same opinion.

Yes even though im a lifelong fan of Corrie when I think its crap I will say its crap, tonights 1st episode was one of the worst ive ever seen in my 19 years of watching the show, and the 2nd episode wasnt much better.

People might think I need to chill out but I really didnt enjoy tonights episodes much at all.

If I remember right, you enjoyed the boxing match episode - I thought that was the worst I'd ever seen in 30 years of watching (although the Derek's gnomes saga is still hard to beat).

It was silly, but I just needed a bit of silliness tonight I guess.

Well I thought tonights episodes were great. Brilliant comedy from Les and Cilla. Quality!

I really enjoyed tonight's episodes as an event.

Basically I think that every so often it's good for soaps especially to break away from the norm and do something different - and Corrie did it well!

It was a pure comic episode (and I wish ITV would give the Corrie team the chance to develop a sitcom!) - but it was good and a far better watch than the usual soap weddings!

Agree Billy's uniform looked awful, but there was some comic gold in his character. Anyone know if he's sticking around?

On a long term basis though Corrie does need to address the balance of comedy and drama though, with most people agreeing it's been tipping too much towards the comedy over recent months.

No I thought the boxing match was rubbish as well, apart from Sally gettiing involved, that was quite funny.

I agree it needs to address this comedy/serious role abit. We have had some amazing serious emotional scenes in the last few weeks, and no doubt ITV plc were trying to balance tonight's Corrie against the very moving Emmerdale (considering we all knew the emotions of the Actors were ACTUALLY REAL!)

I think, in hindsight, it would have been better to put Sun/Mon episodes of Emmerdale together and just do one Corrie tonight at 8:30 (with all the fiasco in half an hour). That would have had greater impact because it would have been broken by the serious TONIGHT rather than running after one another.

Anyone agree?

I do apologise - it must've been something or someone else - as generally we do seem to agree with each other Wink

Yeah we usually do agree. Smile The worst storyline for me was Scooter stealing those fish. Scooter is such a dull and boring character.

I didnt mind the gnome storyline with Derek, it was daft but Mavis and Rita were involved.

Now you come to mention it, the Scooter/fish storyline was dreadful, so bad that I think I'd tried to forget it ever happened! Isn't Scooter going soon?

Yeah, he's leaving soon. The sooner the better.

I agree, Scooter is a terrible character, im glad he wasnt in it much last night, bad enough episode as it was without him in it too Wink
BR

I quite liked Scooter at first and thought he showed promise, but they just did nothing with him apart from the fish!
