Steve Frost will sort out Corrie when he takes over as producer.

Let's hope he sorts out the unbalanced Comedy/Drama divide, at the moment it's ridiculous.

I agree, I think Corrie has lost the plot abit by concentrating on ridiculous "comedy" storylines which are meaningless. I appreciate that it's difficult to come up with powerful drama to fill 5 episodes a week, but they are clearly falling short of the mark of late (apart from Bradley Walsh's excellent performances of late)

Emmerdale should have won the NTA award cos they have been consistently excellent for 12 months (certainly not EastEnders). Emmerdale manage to come up with very good storylines which can run for months and months.....and sit quietly in the background just simmering away. I always get the impression from EastEnders that planning is never further forward than the 6-8 week filming schedule - and that depends on which "old face" they can manage to poach for a few episodes.

I think the fact eastenders needs to bring back two characters who are nothing more than manipulating thugs to boost ratings says a lot for script writer imagination and viewer loyalty. Coronation street and emerdale don't need characters with brainless brawn who hospitalise first and ask questions later to get the viewers watching.

(do you get the feeling i don't like eastenders)

it's only merit is it's racial mix which is somewhat lacking in Coronation street and emerdale.

Jimmy Clayton? Although I quite like the character and he could be a great villan.

wasn't he a contender for Dr who (the actor I mean) jimmy clayton hasn't been brought in to boost ratings like the michells in EE have.

I'm enjoying reading the old posts, it now a year since mayah's mad monday and the shop explosion, some odd points from that story.

how come after the shop fire both ian davenport and shellys mum bev didn't notice it all burned out an boarded up, Ian visits the websters next door to the gutted building and is shocked to see the smoke damage and sally says 'didn't you hear, the shop next door burned down'. surely He'd have seen it.

When bev returns to the street and sees charlie by the shop she doesn't say 'oh my God what happened to the shop' she says, 'there's charlie by the shop.' as though nothings happened..

the other point is does planning permission not exist in weatherfield, prior to the fire dev's shop had a little store room at the back which is an inegral part of the building, afterwards it is clear he has extended into this room and had a new store / office 'built' into the yard and level with the websters kitchen nextdoor Now when did he put in the planning application for that job I wonder.

anyway missed last nights episode due to work related tiredness

Maya's Mad Monday was the 22nd November. IMO the best episode of Corrie from the past year was the episode that went out at 10pm on the Wednesday of that week . About time Maya came back I think!

I'm still waiting for maya's trial which was postponed due to the actor playing Dev being written due to illness last year.

I must have misread the date if the mad monday was in november, if thats the case how come when the shop blew up around dawn the following morning, aproximately 8am in november, the residents were only just getting up.

Didn't Jimi Harkishan (Dev) have time off because he fell out with the crew about the storylines or something?

I thought he had time off because of the 'revelations' in a sunday tabloid.
