I wonder, do people often go to the science museum and take pictures of Coronation Street?!

Loads of people were taking pictures when I was there and watching people on the set. Someone commented that it was the most popular part of the museum!

Yeah, whenever I go I always take a look, often catch them filming. We saw the guy who plays David Platt filming and he waved at us. Very Happy

Tonight's episode was good, I couldn't help laughing when a drunken Janice asked "Hayles" if she was ever going to get a new coat!

Indeed, although it was actually Lippy not Janice!

We've now also got "Tweedledum" and her sister "Tweddledee", "Mincemeat" and "Baldy"!

Details of the upcoming Corrie 1980s DVD set from Network. Like the 1970s set there will be 10 discs each with 8 episodes. Its being released on the 31st October;

Coronation Street
1980-1989

It’s the release that British soap fans have been waiting for. The second must have box set of ITV’s celebrated and award-winning drama serial Coronation Street contains eighty landmark episodes from the 1980s in this ten-disc set.

Coronation Street 1980 – 1989 contains all the tragedy and comedy soap fans have come to associate with the nation’s most popular programme. Join in with the love, laughter, tears and nail-biting drama featuring battleaxes, busty barmaids and people who wear their hearts on their sleeves in this highly addictive soap which has won an unprecedented amount of accolades.

• 1980: Elsie Tanner sets fire to her living room; Gail Tilsley has a baby.
• 1981: Arnold threatens Emily with murder; Ken and Deirdre get married
• 1982: Betty Turpin is mugged; Eddie Yeates and Marion get engaged
• 1983: Deirdre Barlow has an affair with Mike and Ken finds out; the Ogden’s 40th wedding anniversary; Len Fairclough dies in a car accident
• 1984: Elsie Tanner leaves for the last time; Stan Ogden’s funeral
• 1985: Tracy Barlow runs away; Alf and Audrey get married
• 1986: Ken has a punch-up with Mike; Kevin and Sally get married
• 1987: Gail gives birth; Bet Lynch marries Alec Gilroy; Hilda is beaten up by burglars; Christmas show – Hilda’s last one
• 1988: Mavis and Derek get married; Don and Ivy get married
• 1989: Alan tries to murder Rita; Alan is killed by a Blackpool tram; Ken Barlow has an affair

------------------------------

Cant wait to see Alan try to murder Rita, I remember watching that back in 1989, very shocking at the time. Looks like they are puttiing a load of weddings on it like on the 1970s box set.

Just got my Pipkins (Vol 2) DVD today, there's a nice interview with Sue Nicholls on it - she has some amusing tales to tell about her role as Mrs Muddle!

She also appears on the latest Crossroads DVD talking about her role as Marilyn Gates, and why she still loves Crossroads. Presumably Network DVD wanted to get their money's worth from her. Wink

Great episode tonight but twice (once before the break and again at the end) we had poor old Frankie having to hold an expression while the "Coronation Street continues..." caption appeared.

Felt like an age both times. It should have been cut away to the street or some other view.

Talking about Coronation Street on DVD, I managed to buy Peter Kay: Driven To Distraction (£4.99 most shops) and on the Extras that has 2 full episodes of Coronation Street on it, when he was in it in 1997 and in 2004.

The 1997 episode is very interesting, especially as it features John Lindsay, his car getting "robbed" and Fred buying and converting the Corner shop, whilst Vera gets a present from Maxwell in Las Vegas. (< That for those who bought the Viva Las Vegas video in 1997, like me)

Certainately worth it IMO.
