Aside from Pub Tennents.....Does anybody remember the guy who took over the corner shop after Alf Roberts joined the Council? It was when Corrie decided to give the shop an old-fashioned feel. It didn't last for very long and neither did he.

Who? Reg Holdsworth??
He was in the show for a siginficant amount of time and I'd say he's one of the shows most notorious characters.
Of course, after the corner shop he became the manager at the local supermarket...

Brendan Scott I think his name was, didn't he die in the Corner Shop

Yes I think he had a heart attack in the shop. Does any one know why the character disappeared so quickly? Reg took over then, and the set designers changed the old fashioned shop a little to make it look a bit more modern (ie realistic). I think it was either Dev or Vickram's father who modernised it again when Reg sold it. They've still got the same old fashioned window on the outside though.

There was a clip on the Terry and Gaby show not too long before Christmas where we saw the shop being put back to how it was, though one of the workmen was Peter Kay when he was in it the first time. Though he was working with Ashley and Fred came in, if I had a capturing card I would upload it as it is very funny. Plus it was also when Maude Grimes was still in it.
Thanks to a link someone put up earlier, I had a look at Corrie.Net and it seems that the Grimes come into the show of April 1993, which isn't too long for Plus. Also how many episodes have been made I was looking at Plus' website this morning and it said the episode where Lisa gets run over, which is shown this Thursday at 9am, is episode 2500, but I thought they made 5000?
Sally is starting to p*ss me off with this whole Grease thing, the sooner its over the better.
Loved the Plus episode today where she blocked the street with Alf Roberts' car.
I think when Plus started showing Corrie at 1976 storylines they started counting it as episode 1, so their episode numbers arent the same as the "proper" episode number. Tonights episodes on ITV1 were 5713/5714.
Todays G+ episode was good, have you noticed the way Sally is acting on there is simular to how she is in the ITV episodes over Greece.
Btw I had a reply from the letter I sent to Sally today , thats the second reply ive had now as I had one from Helen Worth too. Nothing from Kate Ford though and I wrote to her before Christmas, oh she is such an ungrateful cow

Wasn't if Fred Elliot who made it who it is now, after he had married Maureen. I remember her mother putting a fish inside one of the cabinets, which was then boxed in, and they spent ages trying to find out where the smell was coming from.

In my post above that is the clip I was referring to, as Maude puts a fish on top of the table where the till is now and Peter Kay puts some wood over it.

I think you are right, I completely forgot about Fred owning it! Thanks
I can remember Maud's wheelchair going over Reg Holdsworth's foot! And of course that waterbed scene in the Wiltons! Which reminds me, I digged out an old VHS recording from TVS in 1986 - it features half an episode of Corrie. I can't recall two characters though. They lived in Curly's house... quite young - one had gingerish hair. The video gets cut off at Derek Wilton moaning about something to Mavis! Oh and Tracy (Dawn Acton) Barlow is argueing to Deirdre about how much she hates (Dave Barton?)
I was browsing the Corrie.Net Actor pages last night....
Half the people I didn't realise have been in it in the 60's. Blanche has changed over the years - mind you she was played by another actress in the early 70's.
