I see there is a new character starting in Corrie this week. Vicky Binns who used to play Emmerdale's Ollie Reynolds will be playing Diggory Compton's daughter
Three Coronation Street couples are to divorce by Christmas, according to The Mirror today.
Dev and Sunita Alahan will split after being married for just twelve months, while Frankie Baldwin decides to leave husband Danny after finding out about his affair with Leanne Battersby.
Meanwhile, Steve McDonald faces emotional turmoil after his estranged wife Karen demands a huge cash settlement.
"There are plenty of surprises along the way," a source told the newspaper. "Marriage break-ups don't come cheap and without misery and turmoil, and all those ingredients will be touched on in the three divorces."
Pregnant Sunita decides to pack her bags after discovering that Dev has been unfaithful, and the final straw comes when his secret daughter from a previous relationship shows up on the street. The shop girl decides to get tough by demanding part of his corner shop empire.
Frankie Baldwin will also get revenge on cheating Danny, by fighting for half of his share of Underworld, after learning that he has been having an affair with Leanne.
Finally, Steve McDonald will be taken to the cleaners by Karen, who claims half of Steve's share in Streetcars, as well as half of the money he received from the sale of his house to a housing association.
"In total Karen could be looking at a cash settlement of over £60,000," the source revealed. "Steve will be at his wits' end wondering how he will raise that kind of money."

Sounds good apart from Dev and Sunita. Cant they have 1 happy couple for a change. And as for his secret daughter turning up, this type of storyline has been done loads of times before - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Completly agree - is it just a way of getting rid of Dev (please!).
Though the Danny/Leanne storyline would inevitably lead to Frankie/Danny splitting up, it be a shame. They are fantastic together.
I guess though it might lead to the more inevitable story of Jamie getting it on with his step-mum! That's been quite obvious since the day they moved in!
As for Corrie's divorce rate - it's probably even worse than EastEnders. Just how many people here live on a street where every couple has been divorced?

I agree with you both, these sound like really tedious storys, and it'll leave Frankie and Dev as spare parts I think... perhaps they should hook up!

I agree - Danny and Frankie are such a good couple.
I hope that storyline with Jamie and Frankie doesnt happen though - they are like mother and son.
Coronation Street has been named as best soap at the TV Quick Awards tonight. Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle) beat Kate Ford (Tracy Barlow) for the best actress award.

Well Done Corrie!
In fairness Kate Ford didnt deserve it, so well done to Emma.
I wonder who won Best Soap storyline and Best Newcomer?
