Oh, and guess what, Charlies going to cheat on her again next week, according to the TV Mags. Shocked Yawn!

I thought the episode was hilarious. I could NOT stop laughing. I could not imagine any other soap trying that storyline and getting away with it (just!)

It was over the top and ridiculous but a bit of escapism on these soaps is welcomed.
Corrie does seem to have been going through a 'silly' patch and need to toughen up. Maybe there are some big harrowing storylines brewing for the Autumn and so they are getting a few light-hearted stories out of the way in the Summer when audience figures are down?

I might even watch the ITV2 repeat just to relive all the fights!

This news was posted some time ago. If Les and Cilla do get married, it'd be interested to see who turns up considering that the residents found out about their scam of trying to get wedding presents earlier this year!

Sorry, but I thought last night's episodes were utterly dismal, and were Corrie at its most pathetic. The whole fight thing was totally unrealistic, like something out of a cartoon. I half expected a big flashing red lump to appear on Ashley's foot when the dumbell fell on it. Also, did anyone else notice how the police arrived within a minute of the fight in the crowd breaking out? Are we really supposed to believe that? It's as if they've got the Neighbours scriptwriters in at the moment; the whole show's just got so silly.

I get the feeling that ITV has leaned on Corrie as a ratings crutch for so long now that it's in danger of snapping.

It really was pathetic, it just went too far - there were comedy sound effects too - the sound of breaking glass was lifted straight from a very poor sound effects tape, and when was the last time you heard a two-tone police siren like that one? As for the police having full riot gear...

It's losing credibility by every episode at the moment. I at least hope we'll never see the stupid cloned butchers again.

Push it much further and people will switch off, I've said this before - it's become more like Rentaghost than a gritty yet warm hearted northern soap.

I don't want Richard Hillman, Miya or murderous storys all the time, but the crop of "serious" storys either feel recycled (Steve and Tracey - Mike and surprise son no.3); poorly executed, dull and tedious (Shelly); or "don't care" (Leanne & Danny).

Monday's episodes were both poor. Apart from the fight which went way too far (it was nice to see Sally being her usual self though) the storyline with Tracy was ridiculous as well. I cant believe that Deirdre would fall for her lies, it just didnt ring true.

Corrie usually have a silly season in the summer but it doesnt usually go on for this long or get this silly. And I was in Manchester yesterday so saw the set from the museum of science and industry, and their obsession with animals just gets worst. After dogs getting run over, ill fish and stuffed cats, by the looks of it in Keith's back yard they have pigs there so look out for them in upcoming episodes. They were shooting a scene outside the salon by the looks of it, but that tree outside there was blocking the view of some of it. But I saw Sam Aston, Bruce Jones, Crabby, Craig, Rosie, Bev Callard and Susie Blake all walking down the set ready for filming and someone took one of the pigs out on a lead. And then outside the main gate I saw Nathan and Betty both drive into the studios and saw Kate Ford and Shobna Gulati leave the set.

The only storyline im really enjoying at the moment is the Danny and Leanne affair. This storyline isnt taking up as much screen time which is good as it isnt so much in your face as others. And Corrie got on the cover of some of the tv guides yesterday with Jane Danson and Bradley Walsh and the episodes for this storyline next week look good.

Tonights episode was not bad at all. Much better than the last few episodes, Jonathan Harvey wrote it and his episodes are usually good.

Cant believe Deirdre is still siding with Tracy, blood's thicker I guess. Tracy was a bitch tonight but I loved that scene with her and Liz, and again in the pub when everyone walked out. Sean was good behind the bar as well, I think he works well with Violet, now if only Shelly could leave permanently.

I thought Monday's second episode was very well-written. And no, I don't watch CITV dramas and found such things silly and childish even when I was a child. The escalating melodrama of the fight scenes had the texture of comic opera and the structure of farce. And that's not an easy thing to achieve.

Come on - it's a soap, not Strindberg... I say they're going through a silly season, but with some flashes of good writing, of which this was a fine example.

Read this in the paper yesterday.

ITV bosses are hoping Bill Tarmy and Liz Dawn will stay on for at least 2 more years as they want to stage extravagant telly celebrations for Jack and Vera's golden wedding in 2007 via a special documentry and a prequel which will star young actors showing how the couple first met and tied the knot.
