LOL! I watched 1 whole disc in one go (1976), once I started I didnt want to switch it off. Cant wait to see the other 9 discs
Episodes include
Val electrocuting herself (1971), The Warehouse Fire (1975), the women on holiday in Majorca (1974) the wedding's of Elsie Tanner and Alan Howard (1970), Emily Nugent and Ernest Bishop (1972), Rita Littlewood and Len Fairclough (1977), Ray Langton and Deirdre Hunt (1975), the birth of Tracy Langton (1977), The Silver Jubilee Party (1977), Janet Barlow's suicide (1977), Ernest Bishop's murder (1978), The Lorry Crash (1979) Hilda and Stan's 2nd honeymoon, lots of episodes around the Ray and Deirdre break up which might be interesting to re watch as he was back in it recently. And loads more as well.
I decided to watch 1976 first as thats the start of my fave era. I throughly enjoyed all of the episodes and cant wait for more, one really good episode was where Elsie, Len, Deirdre and Ray went to a nightclub to watch Rita sing, Len was jealous of Reet's agent so Reet ended up knocking Len out - Rita (and Deirdre) were so feisty in those days.
From a presentation point of view, all episodes have the blue Granada Television logo at the start and end, plus complete opening and closing credits, and it you rewind a bit before the start of the ep you can see a countdown (like on the Crossroads DVD for those who saw it)

I might treat myself to the box set if I get the job I've just applied for. Are there any especially memorable episodes on it?

I've just watched last night's Corrie's. I can't stand that Tracy Barlow. Unlike most villains who eventually get found out and get their comeuppance, Tracy keeps getting away with murder again and again, Ken and Deirdre keep disowning her and then letting her back two weeks later. Will she ever get found out!

You'll be pleased to know then that Tracey gets arrested for assault.
According to Inside soap Steve resorts to playing Tracey at her own game over the court battle for Amy.
He goads her into attacking him in the Rovers.

In all About About Soap it says she gets arrested but is later released. It's getting boring, going round and round in circles, Kate Ford is there until the middle of next year.
This stuff with Mike and Danny is rubbish as well, for a start Mike never even has a brother. Im sick of the rewriting history as far as Mike is concerned. This will be the 2nd son he never knew he had. Ive never been happy about Adam either, Susan had an abortion in 1987 so Adam doesnt really exist, ive seen the episodes in question and there is no way she was pretending she had an abortion, she had it, she was adament she didnt want the baby, she wanted her career, so she went behind Mike's back for the abortion, when she told him he accused her of "murdering his baby" and threw her out. There is no way she would have lied about all that and given up their marriage for nothing as she loved him, there is also no way she would have never told Ken and Deirdre the truth.
Good luck.
Ive just had a look at Amazon you can buy the Corrie DVD's indivdually, starting with 1970 and 1971. 1972 and 1973 will then be released in September. That will be better for those not wanting to spend £75 on Corrie DVD's in one go.

Thanks Jez! Useful info too. Knowing my luck, I might have to take that option if I don't get the job!

Who would people most like to get rid of in the cast?
My top ten would be;
1. Adam Barlow - cant act and the character should'nt exist anyway as Susan had an abortion. .
2. Diggory - annoying in every way
3. Nathan - pointless
4. Martin - irritating
5. Scooter - pointless, irritating, boring
6. Shelly - says it all
7. Charlie - same as above
8. Ashley - boring
9 Claire - boring
10. Keith - pointless

I do wonder if you actually like Corrie, you seem to dislike half the cast, hate half the storylines, complain its on too often etc!
Anyway some of those characters are so minor, they don't bother me either way, such as Diggory.
Characters I do dislike are Crabby, the big twin, Nathan (or is it Harvey from Celebrity Fit Club?) and Keith

Of course I like it. I just dont like the way they are treating it these days. Introducing crap characters, crap storylines which drag on and on, changing the history of established characters, showing it far too often. Im always complaining its on far too often because it is. Im not the only one who has said the quality has dropped since the Killer Katy storyline ended, several people on here and other forums have noticed too. Im always complaining because im such a huge fan of the series and dont want it to go downhill which it has started to recently.
The cast is too big, thats why I want the dead wood axed. Diggory is minor because he hasnt been developed properly and is just there now and again to irritate. Crabby is another pointless character who would be on my axed list if id remembered her. I mean why is she there for, she has never done anything apart from chase a few men. She was supposed to be a replacement for Karen but she is crap by comparison and cant act. Corrie lost a great actress when Suranne Jones left and kept a crap one.
As for characters I do like - I like Sally, Ken, Deirdre, Blanche, Rita, Norris, Tracy, Gail, Vera, Jack, Cilla, Fiz, Kirk, Sean, Violet, Audrey, Betty, Liz, Bev , Sunita, Danny, Frankie.

Agree with you 100% on both your recent posts Jez! It's because I care about the programme (as odd as that looks/sounds in writing!) that I'm concerned it's losing direction and credibility at the moment. There are still some fantastic bits, such as the scene with Blanche and Deidrie last night, but there's lots of dross and pointless cast to fill the 5 episodes demanded by ITV.
I don't get the current kennels story - the bit with Fizz getting knocked down by the dogs was just stupid.
