I agree with Jez, actually, there were a couple of improved moments last night: the fish and the rabbit.

I've considered stopping watching it recently as well. It's just been so silly of late. The only time in the past I abandoned it was around the time of the tedious saga of Derek's gnomes, and I think it's almost got as bad recently.

It would have to get really bad for me to consider not watching it, and I dont think I ever would, I cant imagine Corrie being on and me not watching.

A lot of people on different forums have said that they are stopping/have stopped watching though. Maybe if ratings did fall they would reduce the number of episodes and get back to better writing/storylines.

It was better last night, mainly due to Gail's reaction, however the sooner this fish storyline ends the better. Same with the butchers and Charlie/Shelly.

... some of the storylines need to be replaic-ed to the tuna of something more, I don't know, meaty, you mean?

I couldn't agree more, I think I made this comparison with the Derek's gnomes era too, a few pages back - and that's when a new producer came in and culled loads of characters.

We don't need the big dramatic storys all the time, but this over-concentration on very stupid plots is starting to wear on me.

What do we have:
The fish (pathetic) - althou granted some good Gail & David lines.
The warring butchers (annoying and pathetic)
Roy's contraption (scraping the muck out of the bottom of the canal)

Then the weird side-plots:
The taxi kids (why?)
Claire being a bus then taxi driver - I just don't think so, incredible.

The main plots:
Charlie and Shelly - if she can go out for plastic surgery.....
Charlie and Violet - we've been here with Liz and Bev - yaaaaawn.
Tracey and Steve - can't she be bitchy in another direction, I'm so bored with the Tracey / Steve circles.

I have enjoyed Shaun's pet borrowing, and Liz going biking, and some classic lines from Blanche. I like Candice's modelling too, and loved the way she dumped Warren (still can't understand him!).

That's my moan over Laughing Must be the heat.

Oh well I look like a panda now after that -- how distressing.

I expected Leighton to read me out an advice line number for anyone affected by the death of Marmaduke.

Yes, I felt really sorry for Betty.

I wonder if she's going to die? Is this a way of introducing a major plotline?

Indeed, poor Betty, and at the same time an actual storyline that involves more than her serving up a hotpot

Warren is ok at the moment, have you noticed that during the period between a character being axed and them leaving, viewerss opinions of them often changes, this could apply to Ciaren, who hardly did anything 6 months ago, but is now on every episode

Ooh, there's an idea...

"Betty, that hotpot's really good today... really... different. Is there a new ingredient?
...
... what's that you said? Marmalade?.... oh, no? Um... Marma... Marmaduke?" Rolling Eyes

Danny Young / Warrens exit story has to be the cruellest I've ever seen.

Lines like "I've been dropped", "My contracts not been renewed", "I'm not good enough"...

Brilliant!

Not a bad episode tonight at all.

Poor Betty, I did feel sorry for her. Crying or Very sad Yes she is very under used, but at the age of 85 she probabaly doesnt want to do that many episodes a year.

Sean was funny though when he was in the waiting room.

Im glad Frankie gave Candice a mouthful, she deserved that, she is a selfish cow who cares about no-one but herself and I cant believe after all this she STILL thinks she is going to be a celebrity. That scene between Gail and Frankie was nice.

The only bad part of the episode was "Sharlie" - although Bev was good when she was phoning around all those people.

... though I don't think they've figured out what they're going to do with (shirking) Violet...
