She was very reluctant to consummate their relationship - in fact, have they slept together yet? The whole thing about Jason, "being prepared to wait" featured several times, as well as Violet looking uncomfortable with the subject. I'd admit, I've not kept fully up to speed with every episode lately.
For what it's worth I think Corrie would handle the situation well. It wouldn't need to feature prominently, but as the fact of life it is. It would offer Jason an interesting dilema; made more so because Violet is an extremely likeable character.

If she were HIV+, wouldn't it have come out in her relationship with Jason?

Tony Wood said that this sort of story wasn't for Corrie.

AFAIK, the HIV story is out the window. Anyway, this is from The Sun:
Coronation Street bully Charlie Stubbs will propose to Shelly - but bosses are filming TWO endings to the story to keep fans guessing. Control freak Charlie and his long suffering girlfriend will plan their wedding day for September. But in a first for the soap, writers have prepared two scripts. An ITV1 insider said: 'It's going to be one of the biggest plots for a long time and we are going to huge lengths to protect it. With so many people against the wedding - particularly Shelly's mum Bev - it is bound to be dramatic and may or may not go ahead. We don't want anyone leaking the details so only a minimum amount of people will be given them.' It is the first time two endings have been shot, but Deridre's court case in 1998 and Raquel and Curly's wedding in 1995 were both shot in absolute secrecy with few crew members. The insider added: 'We know plots get out one way or another, but we are desperate to keep this a secret.' Shelly has become a paranoid wreck after Charlie gradually became more controlling and critical of her. This week, Shelly has an eye op to get rid of wrinkles because her self-confidence has fallen so low. But people assume Charlie has hit her when they see her swollen eyes.

I've never really understood the point of filming two separate endings of an episode. They always seem to make out that it's to prevent leaks of the storyline in advance because only a few people will know which version will be broadcast... but surely the content of the following episodes will relate to what happened in the ending used, so everyone involved will actually know in advance which version is to be broadcast, as per normal... if you follow me.

I agree, its pointless. Although when there is a storyline they want to keep secret, e.g. the outcome of a court case or wedding or something they usually try and keep those characters out of the spoilers for the following week so we wont know whats happened.
This wedding sounds boring though, we have already been here with Shelly once before - Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Tonights episode was good but not fantastic.
The fish storyline is boring but Gail telling Scooter and Sarah off was good - and her free willy comment! LOL!
Poor Warren being sacked and dumped on the same day. I was surprised that Danny Young did those scenes a lot better than I expected tonight. Candice is an ungreatful bitch. Cant wait to see her reaction when he gets signed by a Spanish club.
Shelly, Charlie and Bev - Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Blanche was good and it was nice to see Betty. Sean was funny when he went to the vets and was talking to the receptionist, shame we didnt see the nice vet in person though.

Jez, are you winding me up? Tonight's episode was atrocious. I'd have been more entertained not watching it.

I would always watch Corrie avidly, but I haven't watched it for about three weeks now. I actually don't miss it. If you get away from a Soap it is surprisingly quite easy to forget it. May get into it again in the Autumn. But being away from it makes you realise just how much more you can do qith the free time.
