Schedule Changes

Sunday 12th June

5.00pm F1
7.50 Emmerdale Family Album
8.20 Coronation Street

Monday 13th June

7.00pm Emmerdale
7.30pm Airline
8.00pm Tonight
8.30pm Coronation Street
9.30 Celeb Love Island

Well I can understand them moving Corrie for sport on the Sunday, but why on earth didnt they schedule it at 7.50pm so it would be as close to its usual time slot as possible and show the Emmerdale special another time?

Moving it on the Monday will not only will be strong competition for Dirty Tricks on BBC1 at 9pm, it will also lead into CLI at 9.30pm. But a repeat of Airline at 7.30pm???? Im assuming its a repeat? That will only get a small amount of the viewers that would normally tune in for that slot (correct me if im wrong but the most watched slot on ITV1 during the entire week). Have to be fair to them though, they could have easily ordered extra soap episodes to cover the slot. Ive a feeling they would have done but it might be a last minute thing due to CLI getting less viewers than they hoped for.

It's probably there as a buffer in the event that the F1 overruns. Easier to drop an Emmerdale clip show than delay Corrie.

Yes thats probably why its there, the F1 almost always overruns. This is the reply I got from ITV.

Thank you for your email. We can confirm that Coronation St will be going out on Monday 6th June at 20:30 hrs until 21:30 hrs and again on the 13th June, reverting to the usual two 30 minute episodes on the 20th June airing at 19:30 hrs and 20:30 hrs respectively.

The flower delivery boy had quite a big part! Is he going to pop up again? It looked like he can actually act, unlike Warren, Adam...

Shame to waste him on a bit-part.

Well, they did that again with the granada endcap and the ident leading into the second part.

I might be talking rubbish here, but is there some rule that an hour-long programme on ITV can only contain 2 ad breaks (or 3, but not one afterwards)? Maybe by making it appear as two half-hour programmes it means they don't have to lose an ad break. Just a theory.

Ive just checked the Radio Times website and it appears Corrie will be on from 8.30pm-9.30pm AGAIN on 20th June, despite ITV telling me in an e-mail it would be business as usual from that date.

Tonights episode - I thought Cilla and Les in the restaurant were very funny, and I felt sorry for Sally when she got the sack from the shop and when Cilla was nasty to her. The Charlie/Shelly storyline has got better this week as well now Bev is back.

Don't know if anyone else saw this on Teletext today but apparantly Coronation Street bosses are furious with ITV1 for using the soap to prop up reality shows - especially the merging the Monday double episodes and moving them to 8.30pm.

Corrie bosses claim their ratings have suffered as a result, with something like a 15% decline, and that the move has failed to significantly boost CLI's ratings.

It's gone as far as an emergency meeting according to Teletext.

Yes I saw that. Good for them making their voices heard, they should insist ITV stop using Corrie as a weapon in the ratings war and go back to a maximum of 3 or 4 episodes a week to protect the quality of the series, and keep it in its traditional Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 7.30pm slots

Its only because Corrie's storylines have been so good over the last 2 years that the show hasnt suffered in a decline in quality and ratings , and they have managed to carry 5 (or up to 8 a week when needed) episodes a week.
