Yes they could have shown the omnibus from 3.30-6.00pm but that would have meant moving the news an hour later and axing something from the Saturday night line-up. However next week it looks like the omnibus is back to normal.

I read this about the storyline with Bev

"CORONATION Street's Bev Unwin will commit suicide in the Spring, it
has been confirmed.
Bev, played by Susie Blake, will become hated by her neighbours after
she weaves a web of lies. The icing on the cake will come as she
discovers that daugher Shelly (Sally Lindsay) has been dating the man
she is obsessed with, Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward).

This follows her trying to split Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre
(Anne Kirkbride) up, and then the revelation that she had an affair
with Ciaran (Keith Duffy).

When she realises she has nothing left, she ends it all. It's set to
be a shocking storyline that will leave Shelly, and the rest of the
Street to pick up the pieces"

A simular storyline to this was done in the 1970s with Ken's second wife Janet Barlow. I remember this from the Granada Plus airings.

Can Bev do away with herself in a way that totally destroys the 18 year old wallpaper in the Rovers? Not sure how that might happen..... she could leave the bath overflowing or something and flood the bar? Perhaps Shelly could get Charlie in to decorate it for her (or get the Webster's builder back to woo Sally again? ! ).

I know back street boozers don't decorate that often, but surely it's time for a change? It'll become fashionable again soon!

The other wallpaper lasted for 27 Years! This has another ten years left! I don't mind the current wallpaper of the Rovers, it isn't that bad.

Sounds like a good storyline to kill Bev off, shame she has to go, same with Harry Flagg. I am very glad Nick Tilsley is going, as he is driving me up the wall. Though the documentary the other day was right, Gail is turning into Ivy Tilsley.

You have to feel sorry for Fred don't you?

Yes poor Fred, he won't learn will he.

I have to disagree with you on the previous wall paper being around for 27 years though! I've done some very quick Rover's wallpaper research, from my book celebrating 25 Years of Corrie, it looks like the walls were a grey/blue colour in 1972, in 1973 it changed to some browny/orange squares which were still evident in a pic from 1975. By 1977 it was the orangy/brown circles joined by diagonal crosses. I remember them redecorating in July 1981 - Marcus Dodds was the decorator who turned out to have an artistic streak and tried to persuade Mavis to pose nude for him! The 1981 paper was light brown overlapping squares/rectangles and was the paper that went in the fire in 1986 and replaced by the paper we see today! Phew!

I seem to recall the pub doors were different and sort of orangey-brown to match the wallpaper at the time. The table partition windows were different with Blue squares which they now use for the Granada Studio tour

The rovers wall paper changed quite often - up until the early 1970s they had this horrible Green colour, then this changed to a orange/yellow colour in the early/mid 1970s and then in 1977 it changed to the brown colour with diamond pattern on it. The next change was in the early 80s to a plain white/grey colour, and then the last change was after the fire. TBH I like the current wallpaper, much better than any of the old ones.

Also before the fire the rovers was actually split into 3 bars, the part when the fruit machines are now was called the snug, and there was also a large function room - however the way the pub is layed out now is more accurate to how it looks from the outside.

Has anyone else seen the new Corrie Trailer? I saw it tonight before Love On A Saturday Night. It is Karen standing in front of a mirror with her head down, and her reflection is taking to her, saying stuff about Tracy and how she should get revenge on her etc. Then it has the caption "Revenge is Street"

Did anyone catch the omnibus on ITV1 this afternoon, I missed it but was wondering if ITV showed an edited version or just showed 3 of this weeks episodes, as there was only a 90 minute slot allocated.

They started from part 2 on the second episode on monday and carried on with the rest of the week, they did not edit anything Very Happy

i am afraid i have to disagree, if they change the rovers wallpaper at the moment it just wouldnt be the rovers- the old manchester working class corner pub. It wouldnt suit being decoroted all modern nd trendy, can u imagine betty workin there, besides they have additional scenes now in othe trendy bars, restaurants and night clubs

Some observations from tonight's show

- You just knew that Martin would be on shift when half his family turned up at the Hospital didn't you!

- The 'Overflow Store Room', is this a new room that's just been invented, a bit like the Garage>House door at Gail's house!

Oh and as Ian Hyland said this morning, I wouldn't have thought it would be a good idea for someone as wooden as Nick to go back into the fire, he could have caught light!

Is it me but did Martin's hair seem slightly more gingery today? Laughing

Ian Hyland was fantastic the other week, assuming you are talking about The Wright Stuff, he said that there was one way of proof that Tracy's baby wasn't Roy Croppers, as the nurse said you have a beautiful baby. Very Happy

Sean Wilson dyes his hair (he's greying).

Corrie was a bit like an episode of Casualty tonight - an accident waiting to happen - we knew this from the very moment Mike said to Harry 'stock room'

No no, nothing trendy and modern, I hate all these pubs that strip all the windows and fitted seating out, paint the walls white, and put a couple of funky barstools in..... I just want to see a change of pattern - it'll be a challenge for the set designers to come up with some wallpaper that gives the cozy back street boozer look. After the fire, the pub came back quite differently really, no snug, and with the fitted seats in the 2 "booths", and the dart board seen only occasionally (it was pretty dangerous by the toilet door I suppose!) - much less "spit and sawdust". The Rovers has never been quite the same since Newton & Ridley sold it any way. Things do change! Plenty of back street Birmingham working class pubs have managed some sort of lick of paint in the last 18 years - I'm sure Manchester's can't be too far behind Wink
