Although Corrie is the best of the soaps right now, imo EE at is best is better then Corrie at it's best. They do drama much better. Corrie's got the humor - but sometimes it gets a bit farcical.
also re: corrie - i can't believe they didn't have the balls to leave in vera's "dirty little pufter" insult
As for Hollyoaks... Every soap has it's fair share of bad actors...but Hollyoaks in in a league of it's own. It's appalling
Edit: i've just noticed this is in the wrong thread. it's supposed to be in favourite soap/soap character. oh well...

Bad day for Corrie dog Schmeichel
Cute Chesney Brown narrowly avoids being hit by a bus in Coronation Street - but his beloved dog is not so lucky.
The youngster, played by Sam Aston, is left sobbing by the side of the Great Dane, Schmeichel, when he is knocked down in the street. The tragic accident comes about when bus driver Claire Peacock gets distracted by her young son, Joshua, the Daily Mirror reports.
Claire, played by Julia Haworth, is forced to swerve across the road when Joshua runs out to greet her, sending the bus careering towards Chesney. While she misses the boy, she is horrified to find she has run over Schmeichel. He is rushed to the vet and undergoes emergency surgery but is left in a critical condition, leaving his young owner devastated.
The tragic episode will spell more heartbreak for Chesney, who has already had to contend with his parents running off to Spain and leaving him behind.

Well that redresses the balance nicely after Seans plug for Hell's Kitchen the other day. I wonder if the scriptwriters forgot that Trisha would no longer be on ITV by the time it went out.
Back to the subject of Chesney, when are Les and Cilla due back? I saw an amusing photo of them in one of the tabloids arriving back at the airport wearing sombreros and clutching straw donkeys what seems like months ago now.

Another classic line from Blanche last night whilst the others are talking loudly around her about Tracy's affairs she asks for quiet, she has no interest in it as she is trying to watch Trisha!

Yes I thought the mention of Trisha was very funny, especially since its no longer on ITV1 and they are promoting a rival channel's show.
TV Choice and TV Quick had Corrie covers today for the 2nd week running
(faints) It was Sally on the cover this week. While Whats on Eastenders (sorry I mean Whats on TV) have had EE for the last few weeks

Great to see your thread has been repaired Jez!
Blanche is a fantastic character and probably so easy to write for!
Did you know that the main person behind 1990's dance band NOMAD (Damon Rochefort) is now a scriptwriter on Corrie?

I really loved the way they shot last night's sequence with Norris and Jack's pigeons to make it look like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. It really made me laugh. Superb!
Also, just an observation... ITV1 is now running a 'Ian McKellen joins Coronation Street' trail with lots of clips of Mel Hutchwright and various characters. Strange the way they always add a filmy look to trailers.
