with the itv strike on friday, would this affect coronation street

It may well affect the production schedule, although it's unlikely to mean it won't be broadcast on Friday unless there's absolutely no-one there to 'press play'.

Although I wonder if they may drop a few of the second Monday episodes in weeks to come if they get too far behind in production.

Reducing the number of Monday doubles can only be a good thing IMO

I think it's inconsiderate of Deirdrie & Ken not to postpone their wedding as a mark of respect for the Pope.

Well life goes on doesnt it. And besides this was filmed on 7th March so its a bit late now, I heard they have edited some of the scenes to avoid too many references to Charles and Camilla.

I liked the stag and hen parties tonight, it was a brilliant episode. And Reet and Emily were there but where was Blanche?

yes, i think blanche and lena would have livened up d's hen party. i dont like to see diedre too happy, she needs blanche there with her acid tongue.

Yes Lena is great too. We should see more of her.

Anyway, this is the bad news, it looks like we have another 7 episode week of Corrie coming up soon, its not confirmed yet but id lay money the reason is because Hell's Kitchen is coming back and they want to sandwich that with episodes of Corrie. Surely with a strike likely they should reduce the episodes.

It really pees me off when ITV do this. They're just using Corrie as a cheap ratings crutch to make sure their latest Z-List celebrity reality show is a success. Corrie is ITV's most important asset, and I'm sure if they continue over-using it and taking it for granted like this they'll end up damaging it.

Here, here. I just hate the way ITV do this, just to get ratings. It's not fair on the cast and crew either, who have already subtly hinted in interviews that they do a hard job, and don't even have time to rehearse, because they are 5 eps a week.

I agree less is more. In the long term it be much better for Corrie to have a regular weeknight slot five times a week which should see the end of extra episodes dotted throughout the schedules.

The extra 2 episodes will go out at 10pm on Wednesday 20th April and Friday 22nd April bringing the total up to 7 that week. The only storylines that could justify having extra episodes is Katy's death and Ray funeral which happen around then.

I agree that less is more, I wonder how much padding will be in these extra episodes?

Personally, if they have to have 5 a week id prefer them spread out across the week, this worked better with 4 episodes shown Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I wouldnt like it on 5 nights in a row, I look forward to Corrie more when there is a longer break between episodes (2 days instead of 1) as it is more of an event rather than a chore.
