wasn't he awful! Bill really can't play drunk! I loved the line to Blanche though - "shouldn't you be knitting under a guillotine somewhere?" Laughing

I'm sooooo bored with Katy's sobbing I think I'll video the next one to fast-forward those bits.

YES! The whole thing with Katy has gone on for too long. I was sick of seeing her birdie face before this big story, but now, now we are treated to a constantly blocthy face, continuous hyper-ventilation and hysterics, every five minutes. ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, although we wont have to put up with her for long as apparently Lucy Jo has filmed her final scenes.

So you think after a few episodes after killing her father, Katy should be acting as normal do you ?

I'm sure if she was being any different, you'd be saying that the script is unrealistic and she wouldn't be acting that way.

So then, how would you portray somebody that has just murdered their father ?

I think the scenes as written are terrific - a brilliant confessional from Angela tonight. With Katy though I would go so far as to say that the sheer pitch of emotion coming from Ms Hudson is quite draining to watch. Exhausting, in fact.

I wonder how long this story arc is yet to play out. If its not much longer then I'm sure this will be sustainable. Several more weeks though and I'll be like a damp rag.

Don't get me wrong, physically and emotionally this has been Lucy Jo's best work on the show, but even my mother commented that it's, "almost too much to watch".

A quite good interview with Tony Wood below, with a few hints of what's to come:

Killer Katy has been another great storyline - some might say it has been overacted and dragged out but I am glad that Corrie can do serious and moving scenes like this interspersed (sp?) with the comedy of the book club and a drunken Ken Barlow.

SO reading between the lines it appears that Katy's mother is the next one to die!

i think its great having Ray Langton back, hes a good actor and his scenes with Tracy work well.

Ken drunk was a great laugh too.

Again, much better than EE

It's not that she's portraying it wrong - I just think there are far too many scenes, most of them padding. Until the Sally story was picked up again last night it was an entire week of:
Katy sobbing,
Moaning about Ray,
Katy sobbing,
Haley/Roy/chesney,
moaning about Ray,
Katy sobbing
Moaning about Ray
Haley/Roy/Chesney....

Or that's how it felt.

There's been some great scenes yes, particularly with Angela last night, but otherwise just too much padding (to fill too many episodes) I think.

Corrie Rita's home raided
By RICHARD WHITE

SHOCKED Coronation Street star Barbara Knox was being comforted by her family last night after burglars trashed her flat.

Barbara, 70 — who plays shopkeeper Rita Sullivan — arrived home to find her door had been smashed in and her apartment ransacked.

Pals said she was devastated by the break-in and is now considering moving out of her plush Manchester home because of it.

Barbara — who joined Corrie 41 years ago — took yesterday off work to go through her things and discover what was missing.

One friend said: “Barbara is deeply upset and is obviously quite worried that she may have been targeted because of who she is.

“Apart from stealing some sentimental possessions the burglars also smashed up the flat for no reason. We are all rallying around and giving her the support she needs.”

The friend added: “She may not want to stay there after the robbery.”

Cops are investigating the raid and it is believed the yobs gained entry to the complex of flats through a communal area on Sunday night.

Barbara owns a country house in Cheshire but prefers to stay at her flat during filming.

It is only a three-minute walk from the Manchester studios where the ITV1 soap is recorded.
