Coronation Street last night won best soap at the Royal Television Society awards last night, beating off competition from rival soap EastEnders and fellow ITV1 soap Emmerdale.
The Judging panel said: “The viewers were rewarded for their loyalty by the cast’s impeccable performances, and the effortless gear changes with the juxtaposition of the storylines.”

Well done Corrie, you've had a fantatsic year.

Ah. So they did remember to keep it in the storyline and reference WAS MADE by Rosie to the end of the world tomorrow!
I wonder if she will still want to be a Goth on Friday!
Good tension tonight down by the canalside as you really thought Angie was going to be tumbled by the police officer.
I know the glasses have been mentioned before but tonight I felt there could be a new Deidre in the making in young Claire and her Deirdre glasses look!

Katy's over doing it a bit with all the shaking and panicing though isn't she!
I could imagine Harry Hill doing a montage just like when Sunita was crying all the time!

Yes Lucy Jo Hudson does appear to be over acting it a bit. Tonights episode was good though, I think that police woman thinks it was Angela who killed Tommy.

They showed pictures in the paper today of Ray's funeral and Tracy was looking very upset, looks like she changes her mind about her dad after all.

Only because she probably didn't get left in his will.
Did you not see the way her face lit up at the mention of a Will tonight.

Neighbours without incidental music would be like The Weakest Link without Anne Robinson. Laughing

Wouldn't work for british soaps - ie Corrie. I'm fed up with the theme music as it is! So depressing.

The thing with Neighbours though they seemed to use that "One More Reason" song in virtually every episode for a good three years.

Hollyoaks is the only UK soap that uses music regularly, usually in the opening scenes that just set the story for the episode.

Back to Corrie - have Sonia and Patrick now gone? I know they were due for the axe, but they just seem to have disappeared. Seen nothing of Patrick since he was ran over by his dog!

And back to the murder - as I said earlier it would have worked far better as a murder mystery (even though we saw Katy do it, I still believe Sally is the prime suspect!). And as for keeping the killers identity secret - well tonight's Emmerdale plot has been kept underwraps!

Yes, I found her acting a bit embarrassing last night, and not very convincing.

By the way, should I recognise that policewoman from something else? She looks very familiar... although that might just be because she looks a bit like Leah Bracknell. As for the police man , was anyone else half-expecting him to ask someone to 'Quote Me Happy'? Wink

One final thought, and a bit of wild speculation... What do you reckon the chances are now of Gail and Martin getting back together? The murder storyline seems to be bringing them closer... and they're both single...

Not sure about Patrick but I think he has gone as he hasnt been seen or mentioned for ages. Sonia is still there but leaves soon. Dont know if this has been mentioned before but Penny King turns up at Ken and Deridre's wedding in April as she was in the photo's in the paper recently.

I agree about keeping the identity of Tommy's killer under wraps, it would have been a great storyline. I couldnt care less if its Steph or Shelly who die in Emmerdale, I just dont care about the characters in Emmerdale like I do in Corrie.

The policewoman was a paramedic called Penny in Casualty, she had longer hair back then, but thats where you might recognise her from.

Yes Gail and Martin might get back together but I hope they dont, it would be soooo boring.

Rumour has it Tony Wood, Corrie's producer, is considering quitting at the end of the year so it will be interesting to see who we get as new producer. Tony has been one of the best producers the show has ever had IMO and the show has become even better since he took over.
