I was going through some old videos last night which I found in a cupboard at my parents house. Amongst some old adverts from the early 80's , who should pop up but Susie Blake advertising Sparkle furniture polish -"with no waxy smears". Must have been just before her Victoria Wood days, she looked very young - same big hair though!
i hate those commie ******* @ Granada reasons: they NEVER EVER distribute their programs to the USA especailly the following:
"Dick King-Smith's The Foxbusters"
&
"Creature Comforts"

is it just me or did claire have snot on her face when ashley kissed her? call me childish, im only 13.
and is bev so annoying, thank god she's been axed. and ken has been in it for over over 40 years, why get rid of some great characters they have in the past, and keep KEN for all this time, corrie can survive without him!
i disagree i think bev is a good character, and it is a shame she is being axed. the writers should just stop her being so clingy and being too easy,
While having a look in today's Daily Mirror I found that Cilla (Les's girlfriend) is going to become a prostitute to say some money to Fiz, and she gets caught with fraud when something dodgy happens with a credit card.
I've tried to look on The Mirror's website but I found nothing, but it certainately sounds very interesting.
CORONATION Street bosses have lined up a shock prostitution plot for bad girl Cilla Brown.
Tarty Cilla, played by former Bad Girl actress Wendi Peters, will bed an old client for £250 to pay back a debt.
Les Battersby's ex-stripper girlfriend gets into trouble fraudulently using her daughter Fiz's credit card and is threatened with the police.
A Corrie source said: "It's a groundbreaking story as prostitution has been a virtual taboo in the show's 43-year history. But with all the other controversial subjects in the past few years - murder, rape, drug deals, a gay fling - it was felt Cilla's murky past was worth resurrecting.
"Viewers won't actually see Cilla between the sheets but they will be left in no doubt what is going on."
Perhaps the prostitution story will show a few more sides to Cilla to allow us to understand her more. Wasn't she a stripper / prostitute in the past? Recently, in a couple of scenes with Sally and someone else (I forget who), she has actually bitten her lip and not had a go back - perhaps there is a vunerable side?
My initial concerns about the character were not born out completely, at the start of the Rita story I was concerned about that scummy teenage friend of Chesney/David Platt being around for long - he seemed to vanish fortunately!
However, is £250 the going rate for someone like Cilla to......oh it's too grim to think about.... !
I notice the omnibus edition on Saturday (06/03/04), Is only on for 90 minutes. I wondered which episodes will be chopped. I tried to e-mail itv about it, but their contact us section on their plebsite doesn't run to an e-mail address.
