A user over at (whispers) *digital spy*, has posted an exterior pic of Dev's new shop on their website. It's ghastly, it looks worse than Arkwrights from Open All Hours from the 1970's.

Some good pics of the Coronation Street set on that guys website as well. Especially the ones with the fake snow from the Christmas episodes.

At least the 'CORNER SHOP' sign has disappeared, that was very out of date.

But not as out-of-date as the new shop design - it looks like something from the late 1970s...

Yes, it does - it looks awful, doesn't it! But at least the previous sign, "Corner Shop" was in the Helvetica typeface, considered more 'posh' than Arial, the Microsoft edit.

The shop set has to be the most unrealistic ever. Every detail is wrong, I've never been into a shop like that (well not since the early 80s).

A shop that small would have to pack the stock in to make it work, most of what I've seen so far is nothing but a few odd shelves (not even proper adjustable shop fittings) and a few basket-racks against lots of hiddeosly over-bright walls.

What was the set designer thinking of?! Has he/she ever been into a real corner shop?

Coronation Street stars will lose up to £60,000 from their salaries, following the axing of the ITV1 weekend omnibus, The People claims today.

Last month, the show's stars were receiving 30% bonuses, thanks to the weekend repeats. Long-serving cast-members, including Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth), Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts), Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan) and Johnny Briggs (Mike Baldwin) were receiving £60,000 in bonuses.

Now weekend repeats will be shown on ITV2 - but the show's stars receive much smaller bonuses from the new arrangement.

A source told the newspaper, "The cast are livid. They all stand to lose a sizeable sum. They won't accept this without a fight."

A spokesman said, "We can't comment on cast contracts."

Oh dear, Barbara wont be happy, im a fan but I dont agree that she is the highest paid for the least work, she hasnt even appeared since New Years Eve, where *is* Rita!

Spolier warning

Tracy's dad returns to the Street

Corrie's Tracy is upset enough when she and daughter Amy are almost run over - but then finds out that the driver is her long-lost dad.

Ray Langton returns to the Street after 27 years away expecting a tearful reunion, the Daily Star reports. It all goes horribly wrong, however, because he is so busy wallowing in nostalgia that he almost runs over the daughter he abandoned all those years ago. But as Tracy was aged only one when Ray, played by Neville Buswell, walked out on wife Deirdre he has no idea who she is.

His daughter, played by Kate Ford, has no clue who the driver is either - she is more concerned with ranting at him for dangerous driving. It is only when Deirdre, played by Anne Kirkbride, arrives at the hospital where Ray has taken Tracy and Amy that the explosive secret is out. She freezes when she recognises her dastardly ex-husband, leaving Tracy to ask: "What? Do you know this idiot?" "Oh yes, Tracy love. I know him," Deirdre replied.

In the fury that follows, Ray keeps quiet the real reason for his return - that he is dying of an incurable disease. But that doesn't stop the effects of his return, which include the cancellation of Deirdre's wedding to Ken Barlow, played by Bill Roache.

Corrie camps it up

Corrie’s resident gay character Sean Tully is getting involved in a love storyline that will see him bed a show regular.

Actor Anthony Cotton, who plays Sean in the show, has just signed a £40,000-a-year contract that means he will be staying on our screens a long while yet. Producers of the show are delighted with the work the 29-year-old actor has done so far and were keen to keep him on our screens.

An insider says: “Sean is a great comic actor and is Corrie’s first regular gay character in 44 years.” So far we haven’t seen Sean romantically linked to anyone (well apart from the moves that Kelly Crabtree made on him to try and turn him) but it has been announced that he will find love with a regular face on the Street. Nothing has been given away to the identity of the character that Sean will bed but whoever they are it is going to cause a shock for viewers of the show.

Who would Sean bed? That sounds like a good story.

Referring to the story about the cast losing money because the weekend omnibus was cancelled on ITV1, well, I'm a bit surprised that they got extra money for that anyway. It's not like they were doing any extra work at all. Do the cast of EastEnders have the same arrangement?

So does this mean another regular will suddenly decide he's gay? Or will it be another woman trying to turn him?

Either way with this and Sally's 6th affair- is anyone feeling a sense of sense of de ja vu this year on Corrie? Rolling Eyes

Someone posted on Digital Spy Forums that it will be Adam Barlow who beds Sean Shocked but its not confirmed yet who it will be.

As for the omnibus, yes I think in tv shows the actors are given "repeat fees" if its shown again, and its obviously more if its repeated on ITV1 than a smaller channel like ITV2.
