for Corrie to get on to stamps!

I'm a bit bemused by why they are using the old titles for the Coronation Street stamp, yet using the new titles for the Bill and Emmerdale stamps. I would have thought that if they used the new titles you would actually see the street on the stamp.

Also, many of you probably don't care anymore, but apparently, once video recordings were taken in, Coronation Street officialy beat EastEnders on Christmas Day, getting 12.4 Million, EastEnders got 12.3 Million.

That is good news, all that fuss with everyone saying that EE had higher ratings when really it didnt.

Anyway on Digital Spy someone posted a list of what soap was top of the ratings each week in 2004 and EE was top for only about 5 weeks in the whole year (and most of that was during the Euro 2004 when Corrie eps clashed with England matches so figures went down for Corrie), Corrie was top for the majority of the year, something like about 47 weeks during last year. Lets hope they keep it up in 2005!

Surprised nobody has mentioned the new interior to the corner shop. It all looked a bit odd, with the door apparently having moved.

Looked to be bigger as well, but that might be down to it being empty. Maybe the interior to the shop is about to become as unrealistic as the Rovers when it comes to proportion.

They seem to have changed the side that they're filming from - the number 13 side instead of the Viaduct Street side.

It'll be strange seeing the shop that way around, I don't think it ever has been before. The shelves didn't appear to be real shop fixtures - more like something Charlie has bodged up with some MDF. It could look very unrealistic.

As for the Rovers, I'm still campaigning for a lick of paint, it's 19 years now!

And Sally could at least get a scrubbing brush to the smoke damage on her paintwork... but then she's to busy with Ian I suppose!!

On an entirely different matter, I was sorting through old videos the other day, and found Hilda's return to the Street as part of the ITV Telethon 1990. She was wondering whether or not to marry Dr Louther - who thinks she did go through with it and is now his widow in a giant house in Cheshire with a huge "muriel" on the wall and wonky flying ducks? Well I like to think she is!!

No the shop has never been shown from that angle as far as im aware, although in the very early episodes the door was in a different position and by the viaduct. The way the shop was layed before it was done out in 1985 was different, the back room was a huge living room, with a kitchen behind, much larger than the current small stock room they have, there was also a staircase behind the wall in the back room leading up to the flat, whoever was living in the flat often used to enter/leave via the shop rather than the side door, although I understand there isnt an enterance to the flat via the actual shop since it was done out in 1985 as since then everyone has entered by the side door.

As for Hilda well im not sure she would ever get married again as she wouldnt want to replace her Stan, although if she came back to the show I bet they would write something like that for her. Same with Elsie Tanner, had she lived I wonder if she would still be in the show now.

Thanks for the info on Matthew Marsden, Jez. Looks like he's quite busy, so a return to the Street probably isn't on the cards!

Yeah thats a shame

Tonights first episode was good - LOL at Schmichael with Cilla's make up and the pink poodle.

Looks like the Cadbury Creme Egg adverts are back as well.

Why are the Cadbury Creme Egg Sponsor adverts always shown throughout January? On February 1st, something else like Cadbury Flake takes over. This is the 6th year in a row they've done this - it started in January 2000. If someone knows the reason why, please tell me because it's really, really bugging me.

Probabaly because its the same time they start selling Creme Egg's in the shops. And Easter is a little early this year as well so they are bound to start early.

Kevin's probably a bit worried about hiring another decorator given what happened last time they had one in.

Les and Cilla could do with their wallpaper replacing as well. I'm a bit puzzled as to why there are water-marks all down the walls given that the bath plunged through the middle of the ceiling. Also... when did the ceiling get repaired?

The belly-dancing by Thelma, surveyed by pink poodle Lou, was hilarious in tonight's episode.

I'd wondered that too - but having a ceiling replastered does tend to destroy the wallpaper - particularly with the water from plaster dripping down, and I guess the whole ceiling needed redoing!

I thought it was excellent! Kirk's reactions were so funny - and he actually was being turned on by her too!! I loved the terrible painting of the poodle on the wall - and the one in the photo frame - great details.

How does one dye a poodle pink?!

A user over at (whispers) *digital spy*, has posted an exterior pic of Dev's new shop on their website. It's ghastly, it looks worse than Arkwrights from Open All Hours from the 1970's.
