I believe someone in the production meeting wanted the issue of earwax tackling, but AIDS was deemed to have more potential dramatically.
"YOU'RE FIRED!"
I could go to the press, but I like having kneecaps.

OTT STORYLINE ALERT / MAJOR SPOILER (highlight to view)...
It's all getting very Brookside at the moment isn't it?
Digitalspy posted:
The Harris family will exit Weatherfield in the New Year after Katy stabs her dad Tommy to death, the People claims today.
The storyline - one of Coronation Street's most sensational ever - will kick off when Katy reveals she expecting the baby of her older lover, Martin Platt.
The pair become involved in a huge row which ends with Katy - actress Lucy-Jo Hudson - knifing Tommy. Martin is the prime suspect for the murder but Katy's mum Angela then tries to take the blame.
The plot marks the long-anticipated departure of the Harris family from the soap. Only son Craig, played by 15-year-old Richard Fleeshman, will remain.

They are teatering dangerously close at the moment - it's back to the old "we need to fill at least 5 episodes a week" and "get big viewing figures to launch every new reality show that follows it" which is what is steering the show, rather than what is good for the show its self.
They'll kill the goose if they don't watch it....

I really hope Corrie doesn't go all Dynasty on us.

I agree, ITV/Granada need to be careful that Corrie doesnt run out of steam.
Loved tonights episode with Les eating all those Xmas puddings to try and win the prize, and then Betty winning. Also quite like the Charlie/Shelly storyline, what a ******* he is, nice to see Bev back as well.

Well maybe Craig will move in with another family on the Street.
Anyway, this is the new actor who will play Adam Barlow, according to some posters on Digital Spy.

Re: the Harris exit.
Even with that storyline, how exactly are they going to keep Craig when axing the rest of them. It would be easy to write them out and leave Katy behind, but I just don't see, quite literally, where Craig would go.
