Whilst 4 episodes was pushing it (I think the card game couldv'e been cut out) the womens' night out was excellent and certainly not "painfully dull".
It's been done in true Corrie style.

The last 10 minutes were great. It's a just a shame the 4 and a half episodes it took to get there were so painfully dull and drawn out.

Brilliant... but
(well, it can't all be praise!)
Why does Ken Barlow always have to come in at the end of a storyline?
The "real time" effect wasn't really evident - and I don't think it was intended to be (no references to time, shots of clocks etc) - as we went from darkness to light in one commerical break.
Apart from Maya, why did no one get hurt or killed?
They are just observations - certainly not critisisms, but tonight's 10pm episode was the best in a long time, although I feel that the whole story could have comfortably played out in three episodes on Monday.

TOTALLY AMAZING.
The build-up was a bit tiresome at times - especially the Sean storyline - but otherwise it all added up to contrast the Maya storyline and I would give it 10/10 regardless of the boring bits due to the ending being SO good.
Once everything happened I did actually remember reading the storyline in the papers but it was still a shock and I got quite a buzz from watching it all.
I am amazed at how they got SO many of the cast to appear at once in the street. Usually only one or two storylines hence possibly ten characters maximum are even on location in the street.!
Well done to all involved. Thoroughly enjoyable and please let the girls have another drunken night out as that was refreshing aswell!

I was a bit puzzled as to why when the room was full of gas, and there were flames in there it didn't explode earlier... but hey who cares it was fantastic! As others have said though, a shame it took so long to get there.
It'll be interesting to see now how Charlie's no-doubt elevated status as hero will allow him to manipulate Shelley even more.

Owan, kindly remove your signature. I don't wish to see a pair of bloodied eyes staring out at me at my screen.
It's creepy and it's putting me off.

Well, Dev has had one of his shops explode in his face, and got whacked on t' back of the head!
He might not have been killed, but I'm sure both of those events would've hurt ever so slightly!
Talking of Dev, he's much more watchable when he's gagged! Hopefully that tape is very sticky!!!
Another point - the ECP at the end. That Tara Palmer Tonkinson one is annoying at the best of time, but was completly inappropriate last night - almost as bad as the Independence Day one at the end of the EastEnders special on Dot's childhood early this year.

I thought it was a shame that they had to cut to the blue generic background for the credits. It would have been a lot nicer to have had the credits appear over that rather nice final wide-shot of the aftermath.

I was thinking that, just a nice pan out from the lorry down the street to see all of the characters trying to take a look.
Surely they could have aired a trail for IACGMOOH...Now over on ITV2 after the end credits, though I suppose due to lack of time for adverts that they'd like to get in after the amount of viewers who'd have watched Corrie and to get the news to start at 10:30, perhaps they couldn't afford to.

It did seem that the ITV News at 10:30 (as it's being called) did actually get pushed back to 22:33 to begin because of Corrie!
This must be a first since the move of the news to 10:30???
