Like the new theme. They've scrapped the background cluttery noises too, sounds much crisper. The original arrangement was starting to get cloudy and dated imo. Be interesting to hear the end arrangement - especially if they've brought back the 'middle bridge' for the 50th.
The titles on the other hand seem to playout a bit like a big CGI promotion as opposed to 'real view' contrast but I'll wait and see.
Really looking forward to the HD output and the new future of Corrie.

I think I've developed cataracts! Either that or they have been made intentionally out of focus
I mean that's surely quite a silly thing to do for HD? They do look nice, what bits I can see...

Why does everyone think that because something is in HD, every part of the picture has to be in focus all of the time?

It doesn't but the general push is to promote something in HD as being clearer - therefore having clear, crisp and even glassy images tends to be the norm. So it makes a refreshing change that these titles have avoided those methods.
I think they're good, the panning style looks very modern whilst the film itself looks quite nostalgic, so they've managed the paradox of being nostalgic and modern which is perfect for a 50th anniversary.

Just watching the old titles today...the street looked so empty, there was about two people walking about, wheras the street is usually pretty busy in the show (you always see an extra or two walking around) and while the CG houses were good...they didn't work as well as they could of, this time the tram fits in perfectly with the look of the street

I don't, but theres virtually NOTHING in focus. It even comes across in a tiny little web video. Just a bit of focus would be nice...

The new titles definitely feel like a bit of a copout effort to me compared to the last set. When they moved that to widescreen, they went into big a thing about the amount of effort put in to creating The Street as part of a larger area through CGI.
This time round, it looks like they just sent a camera guy round the corner with a camera (pretty sure it looks like filming around Deansgate to me
), reused some of their other aerial shots, blurred it then said 'done'. Some of those street shots do look like the same footage too unless they refilmed the angles perfectly. I'll check that out when they air, but it would explain why they'd be keen to blur it just to hide the upscaling.
Don't get me wrong, it could have been much worse (for one thing they could have completely trashed the music as that's always trendy to do these days), but I'd hope they have something much better planned for the future and that this is more of a 'we blew our budget on HD, but we'll come back to it later' set of titles.
