It's worth looking at the new 3D imagery on Google Earth of the current set at Salford. There appears to be a new street frontage behind Victoria Street that I don't believe we've seen...

That mini street contains a boarded up blacksmiths and has been there for about a year, but we've never gone under the viaduct. interestingly Roys Rolls has a back to it!!! where will the new extension end up, im thinking nutalls brewery or behind the flats....

Are the interiors filmed within the buildings in that shot or are they filmed elsewhere?

Some interior scenes are recorded within parts of the outdoor set, such as scenes at Underworld, while all other interior scenes are recorded in the studio, which I assume is in that warehouse like building on the left behind the Rosamund Street Medical Centre.

I'm wondering what other studios ITV have at their Trafford Wharf Road site other than for Corrie.

There are two studios and both are taken by Coronation Street.

What does everyone think about Corrie at the moment? I think its a lot better than it has been in the last 2 or 3 years. I have been impressed by Kym Marsh in recent episodes, never really liked her much before but she has been fantastic. I am also liking old school Corrie characters like Ken and Rita appearing. I hope Eileen Derbyshire returns but I don't think she will.

It depends if you're including a few weeks ago when Leanne conveniently went into labour in the lift with Toyah when the lift conveniently broke down due to a power cut caused by Craig's pet rat Darryl biting through the cable! Farcical! Laughing

I actually meant the street frontage which is essentially the back of Roy's Rolls shown at the bottom left of the image.

It would appear from the planning map in this article that the expansion to the set is to be where the street you mention is, behind the viaduct.

I'm surprised there's no undercover walkway between the studios and the lot.

That's where I also expected the expansion to be, on the 'new' street behind the viaduct. The one that miraculously rotated by 90 degrees during the move to Trafford. Laughing

I would make sense, and they can expand into the car park area to the north of it if required.

If the 'mini street' showing the back of the properties on the same row as Roy's Rolls has been there a while, why has it never been shown on screen?

Aren't there actually 3 studios on the lot holding the interior sets for Corrie? The building behind Rosumund Street and the 2 large grey structures on the north-east of the site?

You have to question the viaduct itself anyway- it suddenly appeared around 1999/2000. And where does it go? Because it clearly doesn't run over the back of the houses.

The Salford and Weatherfield District Railway ran out of cash when building there line in 1883, leaving the viaduct half finished. It was due to join with the other viaduct, to form a connection between the Salford Docks and the industries of the burgeoning Weatherfield. The other viaduct was originally the Weatherfield, Wythenshaw and Central Manchester company's line from Weatherfield Central station to Manchester Victoria, later pear of the LMS. After it closed after the Beehcing cuts, it was converted to run a new line on Politanlink service in the late 2000s, and suffered a partial collapse in 2010 due to a leaking gas oven in a restaurant below.................

Or..... the set designer of the Victoria Street/ Rosamund Street extension in the late 1990s needed to hide the main studio block at Granada.
