IIRC they already said they wouldn't have a live episode for the 60th, but then again I'm sure they've said that prior to previous live episodes too.

Actually possible the quickest way to get up and running might be to broadcast the first few weeks of episodes live, though that makes pre-recording ahead difficult too.

I cant imagine they could do that as they would spend longer rehearsing the episodes than filming as live.

Unless they went back to the way it was done in the 60s and 70s when even when it stopped being actual live it was still recorded as live. A fluffed line or filming equipment in shot was not an excuse for a scene to be re-recorded! You only have to look at the 1970s Corrie box set to see that!

I wonder how ITV3 will handle the hour long episodes which became more frequent in the late 1990s, both Emmerdale and Corrie.

The first hour long Emmerdale (the 2000th episode) is being shown on Wednesday the 8th April. As it falls on what would be the first episode of the day, it's the only Emmerdale episode being shown that day.

How they handle them when they fall on the second episode of the day is the question.

The EPG on Freeview at least is displaying these episodes as "New: Classic Coronation Street" They're not exactly new episodes.

It’s also the same on Sky, and Emmerdale is also listed as New: Classic Emmerdale.

Thought the ending of Mondays Corrie worked rather well - David being threatened by those thugs and then cut to the proper closing credits. A decent enough cliffhanger to keep us waiting until tonight's episode. Better than the ridiculous 'Corrie will be back in half an hour' that we usually get.

I thought that. Since the double episodes the cliffhangers have all been geared towards coming back in half an hour. And they are usually really contrived and quickly resolved.

This felt like old school pacing and all the better for it.

Tonight's episode will start with a continuation of the same scene though, which didn't happen in the old days

I agree. Jack P Shepherd is also a brilliant actor who always excels in storylines like this.

As you say, cliffhangers are usually resolved and forgotten about by the end of the following episode. Hopefully this will be better pacing even if storylines are going to drag on longer.

For the first time since the ITV3 repeats started im actually enjoying modern Corrie more than the ITV3 episodes. Far too much Reg/,Maureen/Curly and im not really a fan of Tracy either, although it was good to see Deirdre again. We are almost exactly 25 years behind with the ITV3 repeats, todays first episode was broadcast on Monday 3rd April 1995. The VE Day 50th anniversary celebrations should air the week after next. It appears there is no Classic Corrie on Good Friday and I assume Easter Monday. It always gets taken off for those 2 plus Christmas/New Year. It seems to air on the other Bank Holidays however.

Jack P Shepherd is such a brilliant, all round actor. In fact it would be great to see his talents in something other than Corrie. I don't think he's been in anything else seeing as he started there as a child.

He appeared in Where the Heart Is and Clocking Off as a small child before his Corrie role but since taking on David in 2000 hasn't appeared in anything else other than a couple of theatre stints.
