No McCain sponsorship on Emmerdale either.
Both were still there on today's ITV3 episodes though.

On a note not related to the Coronavirus, this storyline with Geoff is really making my mum uncomfortable. My dad used to be like him, only with added violence, and she says they've got the behaviour, language and mannerisms so accurate she's struggling to watch it because it's so close to home.

The actor's done a horribly convincing job of it, especially considering the character started out as pretty much comic relief (not sure how fully formed this plan was back then). Now and again I hear people complain that it's unrealistic, that no-one could allow themselves to be undermined like that, that others in the street would never be taken in... but of course that is
exactly
what happens.
A lot of people are desperate for the story to be finished, not because it's rubbish but because it's so horrifying to watch.

I think the soaps should completely ignore it. It’s such an emotive story for every one of us that having a little alternative universe of a reality that once was is somewhat comforting.
Today's news about the pubs does pose a little bit of a quandary - do you acknowledge a massive news story like this at all? If episodes were scripted and filmed close to transmission then you could do the whole 'Rovers is shut' thing but by the time today's filmed episode finally airs, who knows what the situation will be. Is it best the soaps just live in an alternative universe where CV never happened?

Will be a good 3 or 4 months before we see it on screen even if they do decide to reflect it.

Heard that Corrie and Emmerdale have finally suspended production.
So with Corrie we should have at least 6 weeks of episodes filmed. Cutting it down to 3 should be enough episodes to last us until Mid June. Maybe into July if they are further than 6 weeks ahead.
I wonder what this is going to do to Corrie's 60th - they will probably be at the planning stage for that soon, if not already. Not that it matters at the moment, people's health is far more important.

TV New Zealand must be considering that for the first time in decades they can get rid of Coronation Street. As ITV will no longer be making more and more episodes which attracts a fairly old audience in NZ, I guess they’ll try other shows in the slot aimed at a younger audience and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Coronation Street eventually returned in a 17.30ish slot

Are they not quite a bit behind so it is probably the opposite - they can catch up. No channel is going to be cutting content they don't have to ATM.

Around a year ago they skipped 18 months worth in the regular slot and are now a week behind. The 18 months worth were screened in the daytime an hour a day weekdays. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/coronation-street/change-faqs
