At least they’re replacing it with a Granada endboard of similar vintage and not a modern day one like the ITV of the mid-00s would have done.

Even more recent than that, as some export versions of programmes, which have turned up on the likes of UKTV and Challenge have replaced the original endcap with a modern "ITV Studios global" endcap (in the 2013 style), on the current Drama showings of London's Burning for example. Seems they still often do it to programmes they sell elsewhere.

It's a lot worse with American shows than British ones though, for example try and find a repeat or DVD of a 60s-80s Paramount TV show that still had the original endcap rather than a 90s/00s one or, even worse, a CBS one. Notably they leave the Desilu endcap on the first season and a half of the original Star Trek, but the Paramount endcap on the rest of the run is nowhere to be seen.

My annoyance at G+ edits turning up isn't about the endcaps anyway, it's about the 1-2 minutes worth of material they cut from the episodes to put more adverts in. The endcap thing is just the more obvious sign we've got one of those edits.

Did itv 3 air that hour long episode from 1992 as two episodes or as an hour?

It is annoying when the credits of an old drama roll on ITV3 and the copyright line says 'ITV Studios 1994' and you get the old ITV Studios endcap.

I think when that happens (with the ITV Studios credit) is with the 80s/90s/00s shows they've remastered in HD (as they were shot on film, but originally edited on video, so making them HD means going back to the original film and recreating the whole shows, including credits, from scratch).

I know they've done that HD remastering with Poirot, A Touch Of Frost, Jeeves and Wooster and the Sherlock Holmes series, possibly others.

They showed it as two separate episodes.

It’s more annoying when you see old Morse episodes which have ‘Carlton Television 1989’ tagged onto the credits.

GSkyB when it existed only modified endcaps for Granada and LWT programmes, they never bothered making a Yorkshire one after Granada acquired them.

But they did, certainly with Emmerdale at least, blank out the "For IT*" part of the endcaps. I seem to remember they used the 1994 endcap over the episodes from the 1996-7 "Channel 3" era as well, possibly they were still embarrased by it!

Did YTV’s endcaps make any reference to “Channel 3” other than 3s flying around in the blue background?

I meant the ...Production for Granada Sky Broadcasting endcap, but you’re right I don’t recall the C3 era YTV endcaps appearing on Plus.

No they didn't, but Granada Plus still never showed that endcap! They did start showing the 3-less version of it introduced in 1997 once they got to those episodes though.

Film effect and high contrast on tonight's Coronation Street, as they're showing things from Carla's point of view as she suffers a psychotic episode.

I was just about to comment on this, and was wondering if it was a film effect.

They should use it more often.
