And now Number 6 has had a brand new staircase out of nowhere! Then again I guess it's not as dramatic as when the layout of Number 4 changed entirely, even the positioning of the staircase.

We haven't been in the Nasir's house for a while and there was a storyline that they were having home improvements, so it's perfectly acceptable.

Not like when the Rovers upstairs suddenly gained a kitchen (which, just like the downstairs kitchen, must have been in the middle of Roasmund street). This was several years before the move to MediaCity and it gaining an upstairs window.

Nothing new, until the 80s fire The Select function room and The Snug were where the street is

The entire downstairs of the Nazir household has been revamped so far as that it's an almost entirely new set for No.6, but still with pretty much the same layout as the old set. At least it doesn't look like an near exact copy of the Platt household at No.8 anymore!

(I had to download the 20th July episode for this post. The ITV Hub website is unusable.)

I've always found it odd that number 4 didn't look like numbers 6 & 8 either before or after they changed the layout, as surely it would do.

Of course, sets changing is no new thing. Compare the hallway of No1:

with the 'same' hallway in the early 80s:

Like in Neighbours, they completely got rid of the living room in Number 32 and hasn't been seen on screen since 2013...

The traditional living room which looked cosy with Mrs. Mangel. Was it converted into a bedroom when Lauren and her family moved in?

And in EastEnders there was the Fowler's living room which seemed to double in length when it became the Beale's.

That was because Ian Beale had builders knocking down the partition wall separating the old Fowler living room and what was Lou Beale's bedroom, making an all-through lounge. I'm sure it was explained on-screen at the time when Ian moved his family into the old Fowler house. Ironically, in the show at the moment, Ian is having a partition wall being built again so there can be a downstairs bedroom for Jane and we'll have the old small Fowler-esque living room again.

2 fabulous episodes of Corrie last night. I loved the scene between Sally and Yasmeen in particular, where she spoke about when she first came to the street and stayed with Hilda and her being common as muck with her rollers and muriel etc. Fond memories of the older (better) Corrie. And I have always been a massive Sally fan. I know a lot of people dont like the Nazir family but they have grown on me a lot. Infact I think when Kal was killed off that was the turning point for them. I like them all, apart from Alya who seems a pointless character now, but Yasmeen in particular I find great.

I also liked the mix of comedy and drama, they seemed to get it spot on last night. I have always liked Mary and feel she works well in scenes with Dev and Erica. Rita was good too giving Johnny a piece of her mind.

Has anyone heard anything about Eileen Derbyshire returning to the show? I know she was taking a 6 month break and her last appearance was New Years Day so she should be returning around now. I do hope she is returning but I can understand her wanting to quit with limited fuss as she has been there for 55 years. Ive never been a massive fan of Emily, even in the older episodes she was never one of my faves, but she is Corrie old school and one of the few links to the past.
