Sound's quite a nice way to go if it's true.

Quote:
For 31 years he was forced to sing out of key to suit his character Jack Duckworth.

But now, as he prepares to leave the soap, Corrie star Bill Tarmey will unleash his true talents as a singer with a moving rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings.

Bill, who worked as a nightclub singer before starting on the Street as an extra, has sold hundreds of thousands of records.

A source on the show said: "Every time he was asked to sing in the Street it had to be off-key. It's the ultimate irony that fans will hear his voice as it really is in Bill's final scene on November 8.

"As he lays dying in the chair where Vera passed away, Jack will be visited by his dear departed for a last dance. The song Wind Beneath My Wings will play and it will be Bill singing." http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2010/10/31/coronation-street-star-jack-duckworth-to-sign-wind-beneath-my-wings-on-his-death-bed-115875-22677457/

And then it's over to Mr Vic Reeves to hear how it should be sung properly. Wink

Damm missed it! Anyone got a vid?

And I haven't seen one before, so I'm guessing so.

You didn't miss much - it was basically a talking heads thing, with both of them talking about how great the Street is and how much they love it. Ended with the usual ITV.com "Corrie" sting, but with the golden "50" above the logo.

Quite a random promo...!

Oh ok thanks, sure I'll catch it another day anyway.

I think it's a similar thing to the Eastenders random people talking thing, only with Celeb's.

I'm sure there'll have a few different style promo's - I'm expecting a 'old clips' type promo & a preview of the tram crash promo nearer the time too.

Starting nice and earliy - over a month before. But as it's such a big deal I expected it tbh.

I believe it was originally brought in as a bit of a crutch for whatever is on at 9pm.

Although these days, I don't think audience inheritance is much of an issue. People are much more savvy in their viewing habits, with PVR's / time shifting much more prevalent etc.

People don't tend to watch linear TV and just leave the telly on one channel at night anymore by default.

That said, I think my preference is for the Mon / Fri double's than have it on every night of the week.
